I am sending my son to camp in a place that has a lot of ticks...Wisconsin. I have heard that Garlic helps. Is there a garlic pill that he can take that doesn't smell or give a person bad breath? Also, does anyone know any natural tick repellents without DEET.

What can I do next?

the only thing I know other than wearing light colored clothes (long sleeves and pants) is Avon's Skin So Soft.

I didn't know that garlic repelled ticks....i'll have to do some research on that.

I'd rather use DEET than have my kid come home with Lyme Disease...so if you can't find something...you might have to resort to this..

GOOD LUCK!!

I also really like the avon brand bug repelent. I do know that garlic can help with mosquitos, but I have never heard they help with ticks. I am allergic to mosquitos and I have to eat a TON of garlic everyday. I cook with it every night.

I don't know of any natural repellent, although I had never though of garlic! ;) Actually I'm pretty sure there is a garlic pill b/c garlic is also supposed to help with circulation (or something anyway, maybe it's not that!) so I would look in the vitamin section of the pharmacy or go to an actual vitamin store or maybe even whole foods. I'm pretty sure the pill form wouldn't give you garlic breath, but you'd have to ask or try it out I guess! Ticks are a pain, so I hope he comes away unscathed!

I have a great doggie garlic but don't think you want that, lol... We actually make our repellant and it works great. It comes from several specific products from a Wellness company that has a concentration of tea tree oil in most of them. Ticks do not like it. Neither do lice, fleas, ants and mosquitoes. If youre familiar with those biting flies at the beach then you know they are aggressive! It even works with them. We shower, rub down with it like you would a lotion and don't have to reapply until the next shower. If you're interested let me know and I can get you more info.

The company I rep for has a great no odor garlic. But I have never heard that garlic would repel ticks. And even if it did, he would probably have to take it for a while first.
We have a ph balanced cleaner that I have bathed in for over 16 years. I also bathed my sons in it when they were little. When we went to camp all the other people who were there were constantly spraying themselves (ad naseum!) and were covered with all kinds of bug bites by the time the week was over. We were fine
I haven't had a mosquito bite in over 15 years even though they are all around us.
Let me know if you are interested.
p.s. Years ago when I worked outside, I tried Skin so Soft. Loved it at first, then after about two weeks, it would break me out in a rash.
