My husband is Army & we're stationed in Germany right now but would love to be in the UK region. No special reason for it, but just wondering because we love the UK in general. Is there a Army detatchment stationed at Mildenhall/Lakenheath base or anywhere in the UK area? If there is can you pls email me with where? thank you so much.
there is some army detachments in England for National Security but you would have to find out where they are. Try Alconbury and Molesworth, and there might be a place 2 hrs north of Mildenhall.
RAF Menwith Hill (also known as RAF Harrogate) is a USA base up in the far north of the country, near York.
RAF Feltwell is a joint base with some USA troops. It belongs to RAF Mildenhall/Lakenheath.
RAF Alconbury has some USA folks, it's about an hour and a half from RAF Mildenhall/Lakenheath but falls under their jurisdiction.
While we were stationed to a small base in Oxforshire, we drove to all the other RAFs so I'll what ever I can, and hopefully get you going in the right way if I don't have the answer myself.

As long as your DEERS eligible, you should be able to sign up for an account. It lists all the bases, by service, by location, by etc, etc, etc. From what my Army wife friends tell me, it has loads more info on bases than USA sites.

We lived near Mildenhall for 8 years, and I don't remember meeting anyone from the Army there. It seems there were a few Navy personnel there. We live in Germany now, and traveling to the UK is not too far, so we can visit friends! Good luck!

What is your husband's MOS or field? It is very limited for Army here. :-)

Hi N.! We are at RAF Lakenheath....the only army that I know of for sure are the vet staff. I have an appointment next Tuesday to take my dog in for a check-up so I will ask one of them if they know of any! Take Care!

My family and I are in England and my husband is a contractor but he works with the Army. The main base here is RAF Alconbury which I know has lots of Army here. We are about an hour away from Mildenhall/Lakenheath. It's smaller, so most of us drive up to Mildenhall and Lakenheath for the better BX's. But I also just started homeschooling and there is a small homeschooling group here that does local field trips and get togethers. The area is really nice here and I like the smaller base environment. The commissary is decent too, but there isn't too much to do on base if you are used to larger ones. My husband is in the Army and is currently commander of the 404th MI BN at RAF Menwith Hill in Harrogate England. This base is very, very small, and has a specialized mission so I guess it depends what your husband does in the Army. We do love it here and will sadly be leaving in June.
