Okay, so some of you maybe thinking "STATUS" stroller and I am not going to disagree with any of you there. I actually like what this stroller has to offer and the convenience of having your child higher up and not to mention the high chair factor for those nights out to dinner and not having to bring along an extra baby seat. BUT, it's ridiculously priced. So, if we took the sticker shock away would you buy this stroller or know anything about this stroller from personal experience or the experience of others you may know who has one of these. I would also very much appreciate your advice as to what you think would be a really good stroller. I have had several strollers since having two kids already and I am not impressed with the ones I have purchased. Thanks ladies.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So many of you responded with some great advice and recommendations. I just want to say thank you to each and everyone of you. I also, was pleased that there is a service out there that allows you to do a trial run with strollers to see what will best suit my needs. I am definitely taking that organization up on there offer. This is my last child and I can honestly say I am ALL about convenience at this point. The recommendations I have received were on the following strollers, Peg Perrego, Orbit and of course the reason for my initial help on Mamasource was the Stokke Stroller. I still find myself drawn to the Stokke stroller for all the versatility it holds with the exception of BULKYness. But, will see... ;o)

T.,
I have this stroller and there are many great things about it. First, I love that it's up off the ground, and that I can move her facing me or away from me. I also like the high chair factor. I never used the bassinet even though I had it, because I had a little screamer that refused to be put down. The thing I don't like about this stroller is it is so bulky and takes up a ton of room. It's also hard to open and close until you're used to it.
Best,

I haven't used the Stokke, but I can reccommend the UppaBaby Vista. It has been a fantastic stroller, the baby is "higher" than other strollers, and its' all metal hand-welded frame is sturdy and attractive. It costs about $600, but we have no regrets. Every piece of the stroller is removable and washable, it is made by an American family owned and operated company and is eco-friendly. Anyhow, we have loved it, and I would suggest it to anyone (plus people stop us all the time to comment on it). Good Luck!

For that price, I would expect it to have an attachment for a 2nd child to be added....but I am not sure it does-If you could add a 2nd child attachment like some of the other brands, I would totally buy it!!!! super cute!

I know people have a lot to say about the "status" strollers--I was one of them. I felt there's no way in the world a stroller of that price was necessary and that people only really bought things like that to feel somewhat superior when they're out with their children. But before I had my second child in July (after a 7 year pregnancy hiatus), I knew to look at quality. There's some truth in the saying, "Buy quality and you only cry once". If you haven't set your heart completely on the Stokke, I would HIGHLY recommend the Orbit Baby Stroller system (www.orbitbaby.com)! Hey, I'm a practical person, there are times I buy things for my baby from Ikea or Target or use second hand items, and there are times when (as in this case) quality counts and I feel ok in spending on something a bit on the higher side. I have taken 6 airplane flights with my now 5 month old BY MYSELF, and this stroller is easy like nothing I or any of the TSA workers at security had ever seen! I can literally close it up with one hand while I was holding my baby. I swear to you! I don't know if you've seen it, but it's the kind with the swivel base that you attach the car seat to. When the baby is older and too big for the infant seat, you get the toddler car seat for the car and what they call the toddler seat for the stroller. The toddler seat collapses with the stroller base as well. Plus they have a great travel bag! I'm out with my son a lot by myself and let me tell you, this is easy as pie. And putting the car seat in the car on the Orbit base is even easier. Seriously. No, it's not an umbrella stroller, so of course it's not as thin, but it is pretty compact. Check out the website and see the other features, especially how it works in restaurants which is amazing! With 2 children already, you deserve to do and have whatever is necessary to make things a little easier for you.

I hope this was helpful...and no, I don't work for Orbit Baby! lol I'm just a mom of 2 (one age 7 and one age 5 months) who's also separated from her husband who did a lot of research. Take care!

Before buying our stroller, I was practically crazed with indecision - we looked at everything imaginable, from Chicco to Stokke. We went with the Quinny Buzz, and I am loving it so far! I will share a little bit about it, in case the information will be helpful.

The same company makes Maxi Cosi car seats, so we bought both. Because they're designed to work together, the car seat easily snaps in and out of the Quinny frame. As for the stroller, it folds down and unfolds like a dream . ..very easy to use. The regular stroller seat can be positioned to face either way, and it comes with a rain cover and a bug cover. The wheels are sort of off-road/hybrid style, so I am able to make it to playdates over the grass and dirt in the park with no problem. But it's not as bulky as a jogging stroller. You can also purchase a bassinet attachment. The little shelf below the seat is the only storage, but it fits our diaper bag nicely, so that hasn't been an issue. Also, I really like the colors and design of the car seat and stroller.
We really liked the design and features of the Stokke as well . . .just the Quinny seemed a better fit for us. For the (expensive) price, you get great functionality.
Hope this is helpful!

I have no expierence with this stroller, but, I have seen them at the mall. They look neat! Does it have a basket? I gotta have a basket to hold stuff. If it has a compartment...then I think it would be a great stroller! Worth the $$$$$$? Probably not. But, I would get it!
Have fun! And congrats on your baby GIRL!!!!!!

Well, not knowing what you were talking about, I just had to google it. Here is a site I came upon with some really good reviews in case you didn't see it: http://www.elitecarseats.com/Stokke-Xplory-Complete.pro

I will be honest, I gasped at the price, but it isn't just a stroller.

I think it depends on your lifestyle, where you live, what you will use it most for, etc.. For me, I wouldn't spend that kind of money - then again, if you add up what I have spent on strollers, off the top of my head.. at least $2000.00, so I'd say if it does it all, and it's the only one you need, then maybe worth it! I'd at least get a lock or alarm for it! (-:

Congrats on baby number 3!

I own one and I think you can do better. It makes noise when walking down a curb with sectioned breaks in it. If I had purchased a BOB stroller or a BUGABOO I would experience a quieter stroll when out with my baby. +I don't love the storage compartment that is down below. Perhaps buy one that is slightly used to cut costs.+Be prepared for people to constantly stop you to chat you up about it, it is almost like walking around as a celebrity, people are completely fascinated by the stroller, so they grill you with 20 questions.

As with all my purchases I research the safety of the product and reviews from other parents. I know that the Stokke stroller was recalled in the past due to a faulty wheel. I am also aware of some other safety issue with other Stokke products. This was a concern for me when I considered a stroller. I know consumer reports offers an updated 2008 book on baby products, this might help point you in the right direction if safety is a concern.

I don't have this stroller but from the reviews, it looks like it's pretty bulky to put in your car. I travel with my son quite a bit to and from my music studio, store, ice rink with my daughter, etc... and light and easy is what I have found to be the best fit for me. When he was a baby I had one of those cage type things that the car seat hooks into. It was so light and easy to fold and had a basket and cup holder just like the bulky models. Now that he's a toddler, I use the Combi stroller which is amazingly light and actually folds in half, so it's super easy to put in the car. It also has cup holders and a basket on the bottom which was important to me because I always seem to have a lot of stuff to cart around.

I like the idea of the restaurant seat and bassanet but when a child falls asleep in the car, they sleep just as easily in their carseat. Also, I would rather have the convenience of a lightweight easy to throw in my backseat stroller which I would use everyday than one with a seat suitable for a restaurant which I would use only occasionally.

Bottom line, I guess it depends on your lifestyle. If you drive around in the car quiet a bit it doesn't sound like this is the type of stroller you would want.

Hi T.,

Deciding which stroller is right for you is such a personal decision as it really depends on your lifestyle and what you plan to do with the stroller. The Stokke is a beautiful stroller with some of the nicest fabrics i have seen on any stroller but it does have some funky features to it that might bug some people but not others. I own a baby shop in san Clemente where we provide free stroller consultations and we carry the Stokke along with several other brands in that same high quality category. Give me a call and I can go over the features of it with you to help you decide if it really is a good fit for you. If it is, I have a floor model that I could give you a great price on. If you are local to our area you can make an appt to come into the shop and have a consultation in person so we can walk you through each model and compare them side by side.
Best of luck with baby #3!

Hi T.!!

If money was no object for me, I still don't think I would purchase this stroller. But that is just me. I am due in April with my second and have purchased so many strollers for my first child my back yard looks like a used stroller lot. Imagine what I just did...I went out and bought another stroller for the new baby. This time I bought the Maclaren Techno XLR. These are a few reasons why I like this stroller.

1. It comes with a car seat adapter which is a very rare accessory for an umbrella stroller.
2. The seat fully reclines and I could put my infant in the seat from birth if I desire.
3. It accommodates a child up to 65 pounds which means I wont have to buy another stroller when the baby becomes a toddler.
4. It's light weight (only 16 pounds) and folds very small so it wont take too much room in the trunk.

I understand that the stroller you are looking into has a higher sitting seat and is table height. Which is good if you are at a restaurant where the stroller can be used, but you will still have to use a booster or high chair in those restaurants where they don't allow strollers. I have a few questions about the seat being reversible Is the removable shopping bag able to be used when the seat is in the forward facing position? How small does it fold and do you have to take the seat off before you can fold it?

I hope I haven't discouraged you from your decision, but I do hope that I have given you a few things to think about before making such a pricey purchase.

We bought our Stokke Xplory when it first came out here in the States 3 years ago when my first daughter was born. The recent version has had nice updates since then. However, we are in love with our Stokke. I'm a small person, 5 ft, and I like how I can push this stroller so comfortable since the handle can be adjust to any height. Also, compared to others I've tried (and I've tried quite a few), our Stokke is so much more maneuverable on the street, up the stairs, etc. When we go out to eat, we don't need a booster seat or high chair. We just roll it up right there next to the table. My daughter loves it! When we take her to the zoo, she can see all the animals from her stroller while the other kids struggle to see through people butts. She's now 3 and she can still fit in it, although, now my 22 month old girl uses it. They fight as to who gets to sit in. Sometimes, my older one just stands on the front and hold on which she loves. We bought combo stroller that accommodates both girls a year ago. It's the Bod & Ted's. The older girl sits in the front and the younger one in the back. They love this one too. In fact, I take this one when I go out for a run. The big wheels help make it easier to run with. Anyway, I know it's expensive, but for us, it's been well worth the price.
