Is It Safe to Get Breast Implants If You Plan on Nursing Again?

I have always had 2 different sized breasts, but since I've been nursing, it has gotten worse. One is a B cup while the other is a D cup. I would like to get this corrected but I'm not sure if nursing will be an option when I have more children. Also, if anyone else has done this and had children afterwards, does nursing just make you sag again?

What can I do next?

I have the same issue (C/DD), and I was advised by my doctors to wait on reducing the DD breast until I was done having children. Their reasoning was that the hormones involved in pregnancy and nursing affect the tissue in each breast differently (hence why it got worse when I was pregnant). If I even them out, another pregnancy might result in lopsided breasts again. I certainly don't want to have surgery twice. If you go to a good lingerie store, you should be able to get an insert for the smaller breast. A good one will cost over $50, but that is nothing compared to surgery.

Hi K.,
I had my implants done five years ago when I thought I was finished having children, oops! Two years ago I had a third child and actually had more success with breastfeeding than with the first two. I was very small the first two times (barely an A) and decided a nice B would work out and I think there was a little more support to latch onto. This is just my own opinion and Im sure plently will disagree but it worked for me. My doctor did say he wouldn't do implants on women that had just stopped nursing that is had to be a year in between so I would check that out. As for sagging, mine are still very nicely placed!
Good Luck!

K.:

the biggest piece of how breastfeeding is affected by implants has to do with how the surgery is done and where the implant is placed.

I would be afraid of leakage. I would never do it unless you were not going to breast feed but I am not a doctor.

Of course everyone is different but I found that within a few months of weaning & working out they perked right up again. I would wait for a year or so after childbirth to see just what the permanent changes look like. In the meantime there are really good bras available.
