I just stopped nursing my 9 month old about 4 weeks ago and I've noticed that I am experiencing in the last week what I think is PMS.... I am yet to have a period so I'm assuming it's PMS.... I feel out of sorts, absent minded, annoyed, no patience with my kids, overwhelmed, unable to concentrate, I find my self reading the same line over and over again.... Should I see a doctor and is there any medication for this???? Is it my hormones adjusting? Has anyone experienced this after nursing and how did you cope?

What can I do next?

It could be hormones...
Or as I have experienced as well as my friends.. once you get pregnant and have kids, the brain cells just go- ie: Mommy syndrome. LOL! Forgetfulness, absent mindedness, irritable, overwhelmed, forgetting WHY you walked into a room, or forgetting what you were just about to do etc.
And, it can just be due to pure exhaustion and lack of sleep too.

It's a combination of things. For me, it got worse once I had 2 kids. So, I just make a lot of post-it notes to myself to remember things! And, I also, when calling anyone in my family will get their names mixed up....just like an "old" person. LOL

If you are really worried, just ask your Doctor. But I find that MANY Mommies just get this way. Its ALL the multi-tasking and emotions and ALL the demands at the same time that we are inundated with, daily.

All the best, it'll be interesting to see what other Moms say!
take care,
Susan

I'm still nursing and I have the SAME issue! We have two children under two. So for 3 years I've been either nursing and/or pregnant! We are all overwhelmed and multi tasking as well as on the hormone ride! I'm sure you will start to feel better soon! Im right here going through it all with you :)

Sincerely,
S.

I really think it could be. My 13 month old is currently weaning and dropped from 4 feedings a day to only two in the past week. I just feel really out of whack, moody, annoyed, out of it.. Anyhow, hormones are involved in breastfeeding so it makes sense that stopping would cause a shift. I don't have any advice for you but just thought you'd feel better knowing there's someone else out there feeling the same way. I started exercising a little and I think that seems to help.
