Is It Just My Eyes Acting Up?

So call me psycho if you must cause I think I may be getting there. A couple weeks ago I started to have cloudy vision which has now gone away. I am now seeing streaks coming off of everything that has light like windows, lights in general, tv, etc. and if I barely squint my eyes I see a ghost image of the objects. I have went to three eye doctors in the last couple weeks all three say I don't need glasses and I have 20 20 vision. Two say they don't see anything wrong with the eyes but one said there is superficial punctate keratitis. Anyone else have light sensitivity or streaking when you see lights? Its driving me nuts, or is it normal or just in my head? Thanks for your input. :(

What can I do next?

Are you going to an optometrist, or an ophthalmologist? You might want to talk to an ophthalmologist... that is a genuine medical doctor with the specialty of the eyes.... an optometrist is different, and may not have all the information you need.

Have your sugar checked... it could have to do w/diabetes. It's no longer an older, heavy person disease.... I know of 2 people recently diagnosed who are skinny and lead healthy lives. Get it checked out.

I really don't know, but thought I would relay this...
My daughter was complaining that her vision was getting blurry, and it kept getting worse (she's 22). She ended up in the hospital with her sugar being thru the roof.
I mention this because your problem may be something besides your vision. If you keep having problems, maybe you should see a doctor.
Hope this helps, and it isn't meant to scare you.

Did you go to an eye DOCTOR (opthamologist) or an eye TECH (optometrist)?

To me, it sounds like your interior pressure is probably off (but I'm not an opthamologist, there are probably *dozens* of causes). That's not a test they run at an optometry office, but it's one of the very basic tests run at an opthamology office.

If they find nothing wrong with your eyes physically, an opthamologist will send you on to a neurologist 9 times out of 10 (the 10th time is another specialty that they suspect; like an endocrinologist, or ENT... since othersystems can show up in the eyes)

You said in another post you were just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. My husband was also just diagnosed with this, we see the endocronologist for the first time next Monday. My husband says his eyes are doing something similar, to the point he's afraid to drive sometimes. He mostly complains about twitching. But he did tell me eye issues were a symptom of the throid condition.

Im so glad to see so many of you aware that blurry vision that comes on suddenly, or comes and goes, can be a sign of diabetes. My daughter has had type 1 since she was 12 and there are times her vision is off so much she cant even read with glasses or contacts and sure enough, it will be her blood sugar. As soon as it is lowered, the vision improves. So, please do have that checked, and make sure you see a specialist who can check for torn or detatched retina, and cornea tears. Hope its all better soon.

I would also be tested for diabetes as eye problems can be the first signs of diabetes...

Did you go to an ophthalmologist or an optometrist? two different doctors..i would highly suggest an ophthalmologist.

Good luck!!

If it turns out to not be diabetes, then it may be migraines in your eye. I know it sounds weird but several women I know have had them and they aren't painful like a headache migraine. But the diabetes would definitely be the first thing to check. Good luck!

Was this in just one eye? Both eyes? Did you have any other symptoms?

Hi A.,

My 1st ? Is where were you seen for your eyes? I see you are in Aurora have you gone to the Rocky Mountain Lyons Eye Institue on the Anschutz Medical campus? They have incredible experts there that may be able to give you a better diagnosis.

I had always had 20/20 vision & several years ago my eyes started giving me problems. Cloudy at first then different symptoms. Initially I saw my primary care physician who said nothing was wrong with my eyes. Then made it to see eye doctors on a campus who were able to see that I have a rare eye condition.

My best advice is to get seen by experts in their field.

Hello,
When I am in certain light, I can see a squiggly line through both eyes. My eye doctor said it is a scratch on the lens of my eye.

Maybe your eye doctor is talking about something like that.

Good luck,
C.
