EVERY SINCE I GOT MY TUBES TIED I HAVE HAD THE MOST HORRIABLE CRAMPS AND HEAVY PERIODS. BEFORE I HAD MY SON AND GOT MY TUBES TIED MY PERIODS WOULD LAST 4 DAYS 5 TOPS THE FIRST TWO DAYS WOULD BE KINDA HEAVY THE LAST TWO WOULD BE VERY LIGHT . I NEVER HAD CRAMPS JUST A MILD BACK PAIN . I COULD GET A BACK RUB AND IT WOULDNT HURT ANYMORE . NOW OMG ITS THE WORST . MY PERIOD LAST ANYWHERE FROM 6-8 DAYS I GET THE WORST BACK PAINS AND STOMACH CRAMPS RIGHT BEFORE I START AND THE PAINS AND CRAMPS LAST THE ENTIRE TIME. ITS REALLY HEAVY THE ENTIRE TIME UP UNTIL THE LAST DAY. IS THIS NORMAL THING THAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU GET YOUR TUBES TIED OR SHOULD I GO SEE A DOC ABOUT IT? I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE MY BODY WAS JUST GETTING USED TO IT . BUT ITS BEEN 17 MONTHS SINCE I HAD IT DONE.

What can I do next?

I had my tubes tied in December of 2000, my last child was born in October of 2000....for quite awhile after I had really strange and heavy periods. I brought it up with my GYN but they never seemed concerned. In the last year, they've been REALLY heavy and the only solution the GYN had was for me to take birth control pills to help regulate it a little. I personally don't see the need for me to spend $$ for BC when I have permanent BC!! But that's just me.

I would contact your dr right away. I have had my tunes tied for almost 3 years now and haven't experienced anything like that.

Shoot, I forgot to say I had my tubal with a C-Section and you shouldn't ahve pain for longer than a month or so with the pain easing every week or so. I remmeber only having pain for about a month.

M.,

I had a tubal done almost 4 years ago. It has never affected my period schedule. Nor have I had any cramping because of it. I would make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as poossible.

M.,
I would go see the gyn about it. It very well may be just a side effect, but it could also be something more. Don't play around with your health. Good luck!

I was diagnosed with Endometriosis when my children were 2 and 5. They are now 4 & 7. I had begun to have severe bleeding and clotting during my periods. I had my tubes tied the day my daughter was born (now 4 years old). Like I had said in another post, I have Endometriosis, Interstitial Cystitis, HPV, risk for Ovarian and Cervical Cancers. I was also born with Spina Bifida w/ hydracephalus.

have you tryed the pill? I had my tubes tied also, and it helped me. plus you have the added protection of not haveing to wonder if your tubes grew back together.
I dont think its normal to have that much pain, plus you are risking becomeing anemic...see your doctor.

Hi M.! Sorry to hear about your problems. That sucks! Did you have a C-section with any of your kids? Or for that matter any other abdominal surgery. I too had my tubes tied and did not have the symptoms you are describing from that. I did however expierience those symptoms at other times. What happened to me was I had developed abdominal adhesions from my previous surgerys. I had surgery to free up the adhesions a few times and that always helped for awhile. I imagine it would be possible to develop adhesions after a tubal ligation but more likely if you had any other abdominal surgery. I encourage you to call your ob/gyn and discuss it with him. He can advise you on what may be going on and discuss with you treatment options. Take care and good luck!

Hi M.,
I am 35 and had my tubes tied when I was 24. From that time, my periods have also gotten worse, back pain, cramping, migraines etc. I was diagnosed with MS two years ago and now when I am due, I am almost crippled. I talked to my doctor about it and she told me that this was normal because everything inside flares up when you get your period. The best thing that I found to help me is Pamprin, any kind, but I use the extra-strength because of the headaches. Try it, it might help you! I also get really bad mood swings and depression and it helps with that too!
