Is a Kidco Peapod plus Comfortable Enough for My 2 Year Old to Sleep In?

We're visiting family in Texas for five days and I just ordered a Peapod Plus to have in case we need it for my son. He'll be 2 in November and we were going to use a crib, but it's currently disassembled and it seems like a pain in the neck for my Dad to take it in pieces to my sister's house (where we're staying) and assemble it, if we can just use the Peapod. However, I really want my son to nap and sleep well- do you have experience with one and do you think it will be comfortable enough for naps and night sleep for 5 days/ 4 nights? Thanks for your opinion!

Unfortunately, it's getting there tomorrow (I just ordered it Sunday), and we arrive thursday, so I won't be able to get my son used to it. I'll just cross my fingers, keep the rest of his nap and nighttime routine the same, safety pin the zipper(s) shut, and hope for the best. Thanks Mamas, for all your help!

So What Happened?

My son freaked out the day we needed him to nap in it and through a fit, not wanting to nap. But I don't think it was because there's anything wrong with the pea pod (which is really neat- I'm glad we have it now). The problem was that we didn't get him used to it before-hand at all, and he had just been watching all his cousins jump on a bouncy castle before naptime and was generally very over-stimulated from the huge family reuion, and the room we had at our disposal was very bright- it was a triple threat that added up to no nap. So while it didn't work out that time, I do think the pea pod is very cool and would recommend it. It's light, has great features, seems to be made well and was designed very intelligently (I wonder if a Mom designed it!).

A. i can only give you my experience, but we drove to florida over the summer with a 2 1/2 year old, and he was SO tired from all the excitement that he slept great...we actually just put him on a pallet on the floor. he had his own blankets, lovey, and stuffed animals and pillow, and was fine. but he is a really good sleeper naturally...hopefully yours will be fine too. i think when they're that small they can sleep easier than us, sometimes. PS, i don't know what a peapod is, but if it's like a pack-n-play (which my son did fine with also, when he was small enough) you can put some extra padding in them by using blankets if you're worried about it, and i'd say as long as he fits lengthwise he should be fine. good luck and have a good trip!

I'm not sure what a "PeaPod" is, but we used our pack-n-play for the kids when they were little and we went somewhere. As for comfort, if it has a little bit of padding it should be fine for a little one. Just make sure he has his favorite blanket, jammies, and stuffed animal friend (or whatever is normal for him) and he should do great.

Hi A.,
We have the peapod plus also and both of my boys have used it with no complaints (1 & 3 yrs). Since there's a small air mattress as part of it, it worked great and I think it was comfortable enough for them. To make sure they were used to it, we did the same thing as another reader said....set it up in the living room so the kids can check it out, and then eventually have them take a nap in it in their room.

Have a great trip!

G'Morning A., I hadn't heard of a peapod plus so I looked it up. Looks good to me. We use a pack N play when traveling. It has a matt in the bottom and I put extra quilts in the bottom for padding too. It has higher sides and they can't climb out.
Less expensive also then the peapod.

Have a awesome trip and visit.
God Bless you

My son is almost 22 months and we have been using the PeaPod Plus for traveling for about 12 months now. He does pretty well with it. The first couple of trips were great, so I think that it is pretty comfortable. However, I will warn you that now he likes to play with the zipper and then get up and cruise at night. So, I would say, yes it is comfortable enough for a week or so, but beware if your child has problems sleeping in new places!

I never heard of one either. I looked it up and think I might get one. We are going to Florida in November and my son will be 6 months old. We don't want to bring the pack n play because we are flying and it would be a pain to drag around. The peapod looks easier. Let me know how you like it. my email is ____@____.com

We love the Peapod Plus! Our son slept in it this summer on vacation when he was 19 months and it was great. The only thing we don't do is zip it up since we are in the room with him. I think he liked being able to get out in the morning on his own and come over to our bed.

To get him used to it, we set it up in the living room about 2 weeks before we left and called it his tent. He played in there and even crawled in to eat a snack one day alone. He would also sometimes lie down to take a break. Then, 1 week before we left, we moved it into his room and had him nap in it. It went great! I did zip it halfway then.

He was a rock star when it came to sleeping in it at night on vacation. We didn't use the sleeping bag part of it.

The only thing that we were concerned with was that he might be too hot, even with the vented flow. To solve that, we simply had a box fan nearby circulating air. Of course, this was august at the beach so you might not have to worry about that!

The peapod is east to set up, easy to travel with and doesn't take up much room. Enjoy your trip!
