I want to get my husband an iPad this week for his birthday. It will be mainly for email, internet, games, etc.
I'm thinking the 32G W/WiFi.........I don't think he'll need the 3G.
What do you think, iPad2 owners?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I love my iPad2! Get the 3G, because if you don't he can't get the internet anyplace other than where there's a WiFi connection. I am completely addicted to it, seriously!

We have the ipad2 16gb wifi. Use it for the same things you mentioned-love it! Don't think he would need 3G unless you don't have Internet at home or he would be using it while driving( for gps purposes). My phone, iphone4 of course lol, is just a smaller iPad and they sync very easily. 32gb is great if you think he will need a lot of memory...I have plenty of space on my 16. He will love it!
Also, I did trade my netbook for an iPad..very happy! Not great for word processing but I did just find an app for 10 dollars that will allow me to have a word processor for documents, and a wireless keyboard for easier/quicker typing. I made fun of my husband when the iPad came out, and when the ipad2 came out, I was the O. who bought it! Think you will love it!

Unless you think he'll store massive amounts of pictures or game data, a 16G would be just fine. Husband and I both have the 16G and neither O. of us is anywhere near filling it up. WiFi is all you need to; I've never been anywhere that I needed 3G. Besides, you have to buy a mobile phone plan if you get 3G (I think). Do not buy the super cool looking cover from Apple that magnetically attaches. It's awful. Buy a leather or faux leather case instead - it covers all parts of the iPad and serves as a stand. I have the Yoobao case and love it.

If your husband will need to send more than a few basic emails, you'll want to invest in a bluetooth keyboard for him. Typing on the iPad is OK, but I found myself typing less and less as the weeks wore on. It's just a pain with misspelled words, words being replaced by the software into something else, etc. I started using my old laptop again for emails (and Mamapedia). I bought my husband a bluetooth keyboard for his birthday and found that I liked using it too, so now we share the keyboard in the evenings.

The iPad could NEVER have replaced my laptop - it's way too complicated to do things like Word docs and Excel. I still use my laptop for anything that's typing intensive, and the iPad for short emails (with the keyboard), Mamapedia (with the keyboard), surfing the Internet, and games.

I have the 32G WiFi only. It's already past the 16G mark with apps and photos. I didn't want the 3G, since I am not planning on using it anywhere without WiFi. You don't have to buy a contract now, but you do have to pay for the month that you use 3G. I have the smart cover and love it. It works great for me. I already had a sleeve that I got as a gift that I use when I travel with it and it holds my charger and headphones. Sounds like a good plan!

ETA: Black, definitely!

We LOVE our iPad. We have the 3G but have not used it yet. The only reason why you may need 3G is if you do a lot of car trips the navigation app my be useful and you would need 3G. We use ours a lot when we visit family out of town but my parents have wifi in their house so no need for 3G. Something else to consider.

I have the 16g and sometimes wish I had gone ahead and got the 32g. But then again, I have a ton of music, a movie or two, and a lot of pictures. If he's going to be using it for movies at all, then I suggest the 32g!!! Mine has the 3G and I love it. It's $35 a month the smallest package and you pay it month by month. I bought it with 3G because I also have a Kindle and it is just the wifi and I would find myself wishing I had 3G when I was at the doctors office or a coffee shop and they didn't have wifi so I wasn't able to buy a new book. For me, it was worth the extra money! Happy BDay to your Hubby!!

Well damn, I was gonna ask this today. If you traded your laptop for an Ipad, what is your impression?

Great minds think alike, I guess.

If he games at all, go for the biggest G.
