Kerri,

I work for an orthodontist. Invisalign is great if you have the perfect bite and just want to correct a few teeth, otherwise traditional braces would be better. As far as cost depends on your case, how severe it is, could be anywhere from 2k to 6k. Invisalign has to be sent out to a lab also so be prepared to pay half of the cost of the treatment upfront. Good luck!

Hi Kerri
I have had the invisalign and I absolutely loved it. I was able to take them out when needed and hardly anyone ever knew I had them in. I work for a dental office in Flower Mound and you can actually go to our website and see my before and after photos. I was only in them for about 6 months, that was the other reason why I loved invisalign. The website is crosstimbersdental.com and it is under the link cosmetic portfolio and I am towards the bottom of the page you can go check it out and let me know what you think. B.

Kerri - I've had Invisalign for the last year and a half and will finish my treatment in 6 weeks. I only had to wear the top braces for 3 months and the cost of the treatment was $3800. I've been very satisfied with the results. Most people can't even tell that I'm wearing the aligners unless I tell them. And to be honest, it's even helped control my weight. The reason for that is that you have to wear the aligners all the time and only take them out to eat or brush your teeth. So, if you want to snack on a cookie, you'll have to take them out, brush your teeth, and put them back in. Sometimes, that cookie just isn't worth the time!! Good luck in your decision.

Hey Kerri - I did invisalign a couple of years ago and loved it. My teeth weren't too crooked so I only had to do it for about 6-8 months but it worked great and was very easy to do. Your dentist should be able to give you more information if you tell him/her you are interested. Mine told me up front how long I would need to do it, how much it would cost and he showed me a computer simulation of how my teeth would change and what they would like in the end. Hope that helps!

Hi Kerri I'm a dental hygienist & my husband is a dentist we both did Invisalign. My husbands teeth were pretty crowded on the bottom,I had already had traditional braces before but over time they had shifted a little. In both cases they worked very well. You do have to be extra compliant & wear the trays pretty much 24/7 except when you eat or brush your teeth. They are like clear retainers (or similar to the bleaching trays if you have ever used those)...except a little firmer. the cost is anywhere from 3500 to 5000 depending on the case & how long they have to be worn how many trays etc.. Usually at the start of treatment you will know how long you have to wear the trays & how many diffrent ones you will need. Good luck!

Kerri, I used to work as an orthodontic asst-i've wondered about that myself & why the doc never used invisalign. His response is that is basically the same price as braces. for appearances - it looks better b/c you can't tell you have anything on, but it will not completely correct your bite. It will straighten your teeth, but ex: if your upper teeth happen to really narrow & your lower teeth are more normal, your teeth still may not match up completey like they should - where with braces - all that can be fixed. We used to treat from 4yr olds to around 84 yr olds. You can still get clear braces. I encouarge you to go get a consult from a good ortho - they are usaully free for that visit & see for yourself what position you should go with. I can refer you if you want - just let me know.

I don't have it yet but I'll be getting it next year. My best friend has had it for about 18 months now. She wasn't very good at remembering to wear them all the time, so she's had to wear them for longer, but otherwise, she loves it. My dentist prefers to use this rather than traditional braces whenever possible because with traditional braces, you always run the risk of cracking your teeth and eventually losing them (a friend of mine in high school had that happen - her dentist managed to crack every one of her front teeth and by the time she was in college, they were all discoloring and the cracks really stood out). My dentist offers Care Credit, which would allow you to break up the expense into manageable monthly payments. My dentist estimated the cost around $4K for me.
