T.K.
I went to a great Mary Kay party. They had cheap white wine and a platter of grapes and strawberries. Sliced cheese and meats and crackers.
I am having a home party show this Friday and am really finincially budgeted. I need to have some ideas of cheap but yet tasty ideas to make for the party. Please include the recipe :) Thanks!!

put an unwrapped square of cream cheese on a plate, pour raspberry chipotle sauce over it, serve with crackers. Yum!
I agree with Tracey. You can always skip the meat and just do inexpensive wine (Yellow Fin is supposed to be good), strawberries, grapes, cheese and crackers.
What about BBQ cocktail meatballs? (3 lbs. ground chuck is most of the cost)

And you could make or buy a few dozen cookies and have cheese and crackers.....or a cheeseball and crackers.
My favorite is the cucumber sandwiches - use thin slices of a french bread (I don't like the party rye), spread on a thin slice of cream cheese that is blended with a little bit of dill seasoning mix (from Pampered chef) and top with a slice of cucumber and sprinkle a little dill on the cucumber for color.
I love Pampered Chef shows because they do the cooking.
Breads and spreads -- buy or make a rustic loaf of bread.
Garlic butter
Lightly toast 3 or 4 cloves of garlic in a pan with olive oil until brown. Mix it in to a softened stick of butter. Add salt, pepper and maybe some chopped chives to taste.
Honey-walnut butter --
Toast a handful of chopped walnuts. Mix in to a softened stick of butter with a couple tablespoons of honey, salt to taste.
Warm the bread in the oven and serve on a big cutting board, with the butters nearby.
sausage dip is always a hit at my home..
1lb of sausage
1 can of rotel with the green chilis in it
1 16oz package of velveeta cheese.
brown sausage, drain
melt cheese in a pot with the can of rotel on stove stirring frequently (the cheese will burn)
stir in sausage and DONE!
serve with any kind of chips
make a simple cake
sausage balls
1lb of hot sausage
16oz extra sharp cheese
3 cups of bisquick
roll into balls about the size a gumball
place on lightly greased baking sheet
place in oven at 350 degrees. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. To prevent sticking, move the balls with a spatula halfway through cooking.
Not sure if you have had your partyhave a ccheap baked good for you. Cheesecake brownies. Get 1 large tube of Nestles cookie dough and press 3/4 of the tube in the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan(glass works best) mix 2 blocks of cream cheese with 1/3 cup sugar and 2 eggs. pour on top of cookie dough. Take remaining cookie dough and put on top om cream cheese mixture in thin globs, no rhyme or reason to this step, and bake for 30 minutes at 350.
Good luck
You can make Pinwheels. You take a tortilla, and spread it with cream cheese (or mayo) and put in a favorite lunch meat, shredded cheese and lettuce. Roll up the tortilla, and cut in one inch rolls and put on a plate. They look nice, they are cheap and tasty.
You can also get regular chips, and get a 16 oz of sour cream and add a package of Hidden Valley's Ranch Dip and mix. Add a plate of veggies and good to go.
Cut up fruits of your choice, and make a sour cream fruit dip.
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
All three are always big hits with people I know, and they are cheap, quick and easy.
Have fun!
A kind of spicy queso dip to go w Tostioto's Scoops:
1 can Rotel Original (less than $1)
1 roll Jimmy Dean Sausage - Regular ($2.50), maybe a cheap store brand
1 small (1lb I think) block of Velveeta - ($2-3?)
Brown sausage, melt velveeta, combine all and serve in a crockpot (it will solidify quickly if not on constant low level heat
I make this at all my parties and it's always gone by the end. People ask for it as soon as they arrive!
One more favorite:
Cook sausage links ($2-3?), wrap in crescent rolls w slice of American cheese and bake per instructions on rolls. I usually cut them up into thirds after they've baked to make them more bitesized.
People DEVOUR these. I actually stopped making them at Christmas because everyone would fill up on these and then no one (including the adults) would eat dinner!
Melt a can of chili beans in a brick of cream cheese in pot on stove (just
to melt). Serve w/wheat thins.
Block of cheap cheddar cheese ($2.50 @ Safeway sometimes) served w/
crackers
Lil' smokies in bottle of barbecue sauce warmed up in pot or crock pot
I love mini quiches (froz section @ your grocery store) but they may not be cheap enough?
Box of cheap but yummy cookies set on a plate.
Pretzels
Punch (cheap)
Cheap wine
Cheap sodas
baguette of bread w/a dip
have fun
My favorite appetizer thing is SO easy and people always love it.
Take a brick of cream cheese (store brand is fine). Let is soften on a pretty plate at room temp.
Buy a jar of red pepper jelly or jalepeno jelly if you can't find red pepper and pour the jar over the cream cheese. Set out crackers and a spreading knife and viola!
A fraction of the cost of brie or even a cheese plate and SO much fancier and more fun!
Bruschetta. It is such a tasty appetizer and really easy to make. Plus it is cheap. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/balsamic-bruschetta/detail.aspx
