Don't take any anti-depressants while you are pregnant. There were no "known" risks while I was pregnant, and after my daughter was born it came out that babies may have breathing problems. Trust me - MINE did. She was in the NICU for 8 days and on an apnea monitor of 6 months. Try not to take anything while pregnant.

I tend to think its best if you talk to your doctor about this.

I would talk with your doctor who prescribed the medication. I was on Lexapro and was taken off when I got pregnant. My psychiatrist says he will not put me on anything because of the baby but I can start after my son is born. Your doctor may be different than mine and say its OK. You should research the med in any case and lok at the risks during pregnancy.
Good luck

Discuss this with your OB doctor. you may have to stop taking this well before you get pregnant as only a doctor can tell you how long this remains in your system. As you know the first three months of a pregnancy are extremely important concerning birth defects.

Hi A.,
I have no experience with these types of medications, but this absolutely a medical issue, one that would be cleared up with a quick call to your OB or midwife, or to your local pharmacist. They can give you the most up to date information on what medications are least harmful to take during pregnancy. Good luck!

I can't believe I went on today. IF you have any addictions stay away from the med. I quit gambling 9 years ago and I suddenly started, spent money, it was awful. I am telling you this as it does it with men and having affairs, its been publicized all over, ask your dr. I asked how dare you not tell me, and she said she can't which is nuts. Its a very dangerous drug, and took 6 weeks or more to get out of my system. PLEASE be very careful. Even if you think you don't have those side effects, just imagine how a pill can change the brain like that.. Don't use it, I am sure it can hurt the baby.

Talk to your doctors. I am on 4 different meds and I asked both my OB AND the doctor that prescribed the meds what I could stay on during pregnancy. They agreed that I should stay on 2 of them, but if they hadn't I would have stopped taking whatever they disagreed on rather than risk it.

Good luck

I would honestly speak with the doctor who prescribes it for you. With a lot of medications the opinions vary - I know that when I was pregnant with my two girls I was luckily okay staying on my lithium I take for bipolar disorder. But my pregnancy was considered high risk and there were a lot of things that had to be done in addition to the norm.

There are only a few that you take when your pregnant, not sure if that is one of them (I don't think so)....Personally I would go off it....if you can, I would stop taking it (under a Doctor's watch) esp during the first trimester.

Hello! Before I got pregnant with my 2nd child (he's 3 months now) I had been taking Lexapro. My doctor had wanted me to stay on a medication during my pregnancy and he had said that the only one so far proven safe for pregnant women was Prozac. Lexapro and Cymbalta are too new and have not had trials in pregnant women yet. I no longer take any medication and I am doing fine. I didn't want to be on any medication that was not necessary during pregnancy. I spoke with my doctor an weaned myself off it. You can always try that and if you feel you need something during pregnancy you can always start Prozac and if you do not want to go off meds at all which is totally understandable then I would talk to your doctor about switching to Prozac. Good luck with everything!
