My dr hase given me the ok to try to start my labor-Doesn anyone have any tricks that might help this labor along? I have been in labor twice that they have stopped this pregnancy. But now that my DR says that I can try to start labor that is great! Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

I have heard that having sex induces labor. Heh. Have fun inducing your labor!

My son was three weeks early so I didn't have to use any tricks to start labor, but I did research some before he was born, just in case! Raspberry leaf tea was one thing I found that was supposed to start, but use caution-- it can cause intense contractions. Also walk walk walk! Everyone tells you that sex helps- but seriously, who feels like that at 9 months pregnant?! Ha ha, good luck!

I tried everything and NOTHING worked for me. I had to be induced which was no fun. I will say that my Dr. said they only thing that has been somewhat proven to work is sex. Best of luck to you!

My sister swears by castrol oil (I think I spelt it like motor oil) and a lot of walking she has done this with 5 of her kids and it has always worked, I thought about trying it but couldn't get the taste down. Sex is supposed to be good, I would of just asked the DR to thin your membranes and then do a lot of walking, thats what my doc does for me. Good Luck and congrats on the baby!

My midwife told me to, walk, yes, have sex, and DO NOT take any mineral oils. they are toxic to the baby. I went for a really long walk, and did some heavy duty house work. Took a nap and went into labor. That is what worked for me.

House work, and sex and nipple stimulation. If you have a breast pump that works.

Well, I am expecting my 5th and I've tried the exercising, the sex, the house work, remodeling....pretty much everything and the only thing that has worked is waiting until my baby was ready. They all came out! Patience is probably the best advice I ahve! Besides they sure are a lot quieter on the inside!!

Raspberry tea or raspberry salad dressing is said to help induce labor. The Caioti Pizza Cafe in L.A. has built a strong following by offering a balsamic vinaigrette salad that supposedly has helped many women go into labor. I went and it didn't help, nor did the raspberry tea/dressing. Or sex.

Mopping the floor did, though!

I am not sure why your Dr would say it is okay, like you have a lot of control over it?? hee hee. I can say walking, spicey foods may or may not work. I know I had to be induced with my kids and they had me up walking to get it going. However if your Dr needs to you start labor and you aren't on your own, they can induce you via meds. Are you past your due date? I went into preterm labor with my daughter and had it stopped too, then I got preeclampsia so they had to induce and we had to deliver at 37 weeks. With my son I had to be induced early too and get a csection as he was HUGE. I had him at 38 weeks. I haven't ever had to induce myself but I hear sex, spicey foods and walking are ways.

With my last child I did a lot of walking up and down stairs. After a few days of that not working I took a stool softner/laxative. It caused me to start having contractions about 8 hours after I took it.

Well I work my butt off the day my water broke, We have a family owned business that need to have the floors swept and mopped daily (BIG floor). So I swept and mopped the floors and of course got a lot of imput from my hubby's family who all told me to have sex and then WALK alot. I started to have a lot of pressure and my the time we got to the hospital my water broke in the parking lot, I live in a small town so the hospital in 1/2 hour away. It worked!!! The nurse also told me that if you are close enough to going into labor that nipple stimulation works great!!1
Good luck

I did lots of squats the day before my water broke and i went walking up a very steep hill. I also stood on the coach and bounced, just be careful you don't fall.
