Has anyone gone from 50mg of clomid to 100mg of clomid? If so, did you experience side effects? This will be my 4th cycle. I was on 50mg and had no side effects. I am afraid to try 100. Thanks for any feedback!

What can I do next?

I'm coming in late on this one. We tried for 7 years to have a baby. We went to 3 different Dr.s who said they "specialize" in infertility. We had so many tests done, tried Clomid and IUI. When I finally went to a reproductive endocrinologist, he said I should not have been on Clomid more than 3 cycles. I was on it for 4 or 5. It made me an emotional wreck. So much so that I decided to take a YEAR off from the whole rollercoaster. When we went to the endocrinologist, it took us 6 months to get pregnant with our son using the IUI. I had other issues that my OBGYN's just weren't trained to deal with.

Bottom line, don't increase the dose. You will be miserable. Second, go to a reproductive endocrinologist. You're wasting time and money if you aren't already seeing one. They are more expensive but I think back on all the money we wasted and it was way more than what we spent when we went to a real specialist.

Like Carrie, I did several rounds of Clomid and had TERRIBLE side effects. For me, doubling the dose just made me a CRAZY woman. Basically, at this point of ttc, my ob/gyn sent me on to a infertility dr. He first suggested that we do Clomid again and I told him my side effects so we moved on to injectables. I did so much better on inj!! I developed more eggs, had much better cervical mucos, thicker lining and best of all, NO CRAZINESS!!! We did get pg on our third rnd of gonal-f/IUI. I honestly say not to spend much more time on the Clomid. It does work for some, but if you are not seeing results with it within a few months then it's probably time to move on. Also, just another thought. Clomid does effect your cervical mucos and lining adversely. If you are not already doing so, you may want to consider IUI with your Clomid to up your chances!!

Good luck!!

p.s. This is a GREAT website called trying to conceive: http://www.tryingtoconceive.com/ They have message boards for whater you are doing to try to get pregnant. It is a great source of advice, comfort and support. You may want to post your question on the "Clomid" board, I bet you will get tons of great responses!! This site was such a blessing for me when I was ttc both my children, I highly recommend it!!

Hi L....my doctor put me on 50 the first round and then 100 the second round.

It didn't work for me. I had terrible side effects with clomid...so emotional, angry, no sleep, short temper, it was AWFUL!

So my doctor said that we needed to move to injectibles I was prepared to be out of control, but it was way better on my attitude. Clomid made me a crazy lady!

After 3 rounds of injectibles we got pregnant and have a 15 month old little boy.

We did IUI (artificial insemination) with both rounds of Clomid and all 3 injectible rounds to increase our chances.

We were going to do invitro if this last round didn't work, but it did.

Good luck to you...I know it is a tough thing to do. I recommend to move to 100mg and try it.

L.,

I am now 25.5 weeks pregnant with my second little girl. I took 50 mg of Clomid for 3 mths and on my 4th cycle (like you)the Doctor moved me up to 100 mg and I fnally became pregnant. (50mg just didn't work for me). The side effects on the 50 mg dose was minimal....like mood swings, frequent headaches, etc. With the 100 mg dose, I could hardley tell the difference. It all effected me the same. But, as you know all people are different. I wish you much luck and much baby dust. I belong to a Yahoo forum (Chat room) that is only for women who are taking TTC while taking clomid or women who have become pregnant while taking clomid. It's a wonderful group with wonderful ladies and ton of support. I've been there since November of last year. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you the site.
