I am looking for a good complementary/alternative pediatrician who uses "clean" or "green" vaccines preferably in the Mt. Pleasant area. If you know anyone please let me know.

Thanks!
A.

My daughter sees the pediatricians at Sweetgrass Pediatrics in North Charleston. I see Dr Lisa Lopez mostly but she is currently on maternity leave, due to return sometime in late August early September. They are great for parents looking to alternatively vaccinate. There really are no "safe" vaccines but I have decided that I am ok with Phoebe being given the same vaccines that I received. You can look up Jenny McCarthy's website on vaccines at generationrescue.org. They have a copy of a late 80's recommended schedule and it is about the only list that I feel safe giving as the incidence of autism and autoimmune disorders in kids seemed to skyrocket after the early 90's addition of several different vaccines that were barely studied. That coupled with the over medication and over medicalization of the moms during pregnancy and our kids have contributed to this.

I share your frustration. At this point they are forcing pediatricians to use the cocktails of vaccines. They are combining 5 vaccines into 1 shot (Diptheria, Hib, Polio, Pertussis, and Tetanus). South Carolina is a state that requires the vaccinations unless you claim a religious or medical reason. This means that you must vaccinate with all of the required vaccines, or none at all. This is troublesome to me.
I do not agree with the statement that vaccines are not necessary. My family travels outside of the continental US to places where things like Polio are still an issue. My pediatrician, in James Island, is very good about using an alternate schedule of vaccines, and allowing the parents to dictate that schedule. I have spoken with her about getting the individual vaccines, but the cost could be enormous and is not possible for my family.
I wish parents were not forced to have their children injected with vaccines that are not necessary, and could be detrimental in order to utilize the public school system.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a green vaccine and if you are interested in learning more about vaccines in general there's a wonderful yahoo group called Vaccinations that's free to join and the largest and busiest of its kind in the world. Here's the link
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Vaccinations/
Vaccines, green or not, have never been proven to be effective and are, as we all are learning, very dangerous and unnecessary. There are a couple of docs in the area to support non-vaxxing families. Obviously, the dangerous additives in vaccines concern you, as they should, so why not learn about how to protect your children naturally and ease some of the fear of so-called "childhood diseases"? I won't get 'preachy' on you, but with vaccines, you never REALLY know what you are getting. In private testing, so called thimerisol free vaccines still contained the dangerous ingredient. "Healthy Vaccines" is a bit of an oxymoron indeed.

"alternative" pediatrician? Not in this Western world! In all seriousness, my pedi at Parkwood (Goedecke), is very cautious about immunization/vaccination scheduling. The office is very particular even for the basics. They have been preservative free since 2005 (maybe longer, that's when we started going). They have an office on Daniel Island. Not sure about her "delay" philosophy, but she has been respectful of all my wishes in other areas. Good luck!
