Implantation and Pregnancy Tests

I have a 3 yr old little boy who was conceived pretty much the first time. I had a early miscarriage last month. The Dr said we could start trying immediately again so we did.

For the last week, I have felt certain that I am pregnant. Tired, peeing alot, and mostly really sore breasts. I am not due to start my period for another 3 days and I noticed a little blood when I went to the bathroom earlier. I decided to take a test just to see what it said and it says it's negative. My question is if the bleeding is implantation bleeding would I get a positive test or is it still too early to trust the test. Anyone got a neg test with implantation bleeding?

Maybe I just think I'm pregnant because I want to be so badly. Any thoughts or experiences are welcomes. TIA!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I waited a few more days and got a positive test. YAY! I'm going for a blood test tomorrow just to be sure. I'm going to try and contain myself since I had a miscarriage last month but I'm staying positive. Thanks for your advice.
6-14-09 Still 6 weeks 5 days prego---keeping my fingers crossed!
7-1-09 Sono revealed no heart activity. So at 9 weeks I had a D&C and gave my baby to God.

It is too early to trust the test. The implantation bleeding occurs before the hormones for pregnancy even develop to show a positive test. The body does not begin producing it until the implantation occurs and it is not instantaneous enough for it to show up on the test. You proably just think you are pregnant because you want to be pregnant so bad. I hope you are pregnant though! Wait until a week after your period is supposed to come and take a pregnancy test then. I would actually take a test even if you have "your period". There are false periods just like thre are false tests. Good luck! IT will happen for you and it will happen soon!

I would not rely on the home pregnancy test results. I did not experience implantation bleeding, but I took 2 home pregnancy tests a few days apart after I missed a period. I too had common symptoms and knew I was pregnant. It took a blood test to confirm that I was pregnant with my now 3-yr-old.

See Emily T’s related request “Very Very Very Faint Line On Test..... And Not Pregnant On Clear Blue Digital???” submitted May. 10, 2009 to read many more stories regarding false negatives.

In the meantime, I pray that Psalm 37:7 will provide you peace. "Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him."

My sister just found out she is prego. She had thought she was pregnant due to high temps - they chart her cycles. Took two home tests that came up negative. Had a period on day 46, 16 days past usual. It was short, spotty-ish. She took another test the day after that that read positive. She was thanking God that she had a negative reading before the bleeding or she would have freaked out!

Temperatures are a sure way to know if you are pregnant, ovulating, etc. Cheap, too. Only $10 for a basal thermometer. Plenty of free info online or cheap classes on charting temps and symptoms through ccli.org. SSooooo helpful for us since we decided to not take poison any more, I mean birth control!

Also, #1 cause for miscarriage in the last decade is due to luteal phase failure. Not sure what you've experienced with your loss (and I am so sorry you had to go through that). Luteal phase failure is simply not enough progesterone to sustain a young pregnancy. This is easily corrected with a daily progesterone cream in the first trimester. If you would like more info on this, please call me- it's too lengthy to try to explain here. I have a book you can borrow and a source for some high quality cream.

Blessings to you, hope this helps,
L.

If you know when you ovulated the very soonest you will get a positive is 10 days post ovulation. If it was implantation bleeding you could expect a positive with in a day or 2 but the longer you wait the more accurate results you will get.
