Impetigo or Stubborn Lesion?

Dear All,
My 3 year old has the second scratch that is taking a while to heal...all within a few weeks time. My son has 103 fever from inflammed tonsils so I could not bring him into his pedi dermatologist. The dermatologist said over the phone (based on the first lesion she saw 3 weeks ago) that if the current small lesion does not heal by next week, it could be impetigo. Our regular pedi whom we saw a few days ago said after that it is just a stubborn lesion that heals slowly because my son is accidently opening it every day. Both said to put on a local antibiotic cream for their own reasons. (we live abroad -- the cream is called fucidin).

So...mommas...I think the pedi is right that it is healing slowly because my son keeps accidentally opening. But I wanted to know if anyone else has had there child have a series of small sores that perhaps heal slowly due to another reason. Impetigo or otherwise? Anything I should look out for?

Thank you.
Jilly.

P.S. Please nothing negative!!!!

So What Happened?

Thank you as always to those caring and warm mommas who provided thoughtful advice. I also want to thank the momma and give her the benefit of the doubt for pointing out that I may have a problem. I do. I have OCD of the mind. That is, when my son gets hurt, I get anxious I don't know how to care for him properly. I am a strong woman, but insecure as a parent for my own reasons which I sometimes have shared on this site. Asking questions on this site is a way I deal with my anxiety and feel I am doing the best for my son.So I am grateful always for everyone's good advice and patience. And I will give the benefit of the doubt for the momma that rendered a pop psychology conclusion. However, such conclusions and advice might perhaps be more appropriate and helpful for a private message than a publc forum.

Impetigo will spread like wild-fire [left untreated by meds]. If it's not all over his mouth area, it's not Impetigo.

I have not read your other posts but I've seen them so I know you have been worrying over this for some time now. Is it possible to put a bandage over the sore? They have the small circle ones that don't cover much area. It might not look great but it should allow it to heal. My daughter used to get scratches sometimes and they do take a little longer to heal on the face because it is constantly exposed and touched during everyday life. I would cover it, and try not to worry SO much. :)

If you can get some Tea Tree Oil that would help heal impetigo. It is very contagious and he could have picked it up anywhere after he scratched himself. Make sure you both wash your hands after touching his face. It could also be inflamed because of his fever.

My son has severe eczema and it started with a scratch/rash on his ankle that kept coming back. This could also be the culperate.
