I'm a working single mom with little extra time. I work nights so that I can be with my girls when they're awake. I want to be able to give them more however in the friends field. So I made up my mind to try a play date. Can any one tell me how when I really don't know any other mom's in Tulsa?

What can I do next?

MOPS is a wonderful option if it's something you think you might be interested in. Check out their main site www.mops.org to check for a host location near you. There are several churches around Tulsa that host this bi-monthly, Christian group for moms of preschoolers and the preschoolers themselves.

Another idea would be to look for local playgroups. A couple that I've participated in here in town are Tulsa Metro Moms and also Metro Tulsa Moms. You can do a YAHOO GROUP search for these two.

Good luck! :)

You could check for a local chapter of MomsClub, or MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers).
BTW, if you work at night, and are up with your daughters during the day, when do you sleep, woman?!

I'm not from Tulsa, but have you tried any of the local churches? I know in Kansas they have PDO/MDO (parents day out/ mother's day out) groups. Also, what about your neighborhood and hosting a cookout of some sort and get everyone to join in the fun? Maybe your community has scheduled activities? You might get online and check out your local community or county. You might also check out a YMCA/YWCA. Good luck and I hope you find something!

I am not from Tulsa but in Missouri they have parents as teachers ( a free service through your local public schools) and they offer playdates and other activites. Also, look for some type of moms club in your area. There are a few here " mom's day out)... lots of way to meet moms and other kids.

I have been a single mom, at different times in my life so I know how hard it is. There is never enough time to spend with your kids! As for the playdate deal I would contact the local SRS office, they usually have many resources available to them or can tell you who to contact and give you suggestions. That would be my first step. Look on the internet or even on here for mom's or mommy clubs in your area! If you ever want to contact me I would love to hear from you, like I said I to have been a single mom of one child and then again with 3.

Sounds like you really have your hands full! You might check your local library. I know in OKC the metropolitan library system puts out a monthly calendar of events, and all of our local libraries offer story time and play time activities for children of all ages. All of these programs are offered at no charge. Not only do your kids get to interact with other children, you get an opportunity to meet new people AND you are helping to foster a life time love of reading!
