Go, Go, Go!!!! This is not something you want to put off! Being a mother you can't be embarrassed anymore about anything LOL and it really doesn't hurt at all.
Basically, I don't want to go! Soooo I haven't made the appt. I am 40, and therefore OLD. I mean, old enough to need these types of tests =) What can I expect?

Don't wear any deodorant, powder, lotion or perfume near your breasts the day you go--it can mess the results up somehow.
Yeah, it feels like they're making a breast sandwich with that machine, but it really doesn't take too long.
My Mom and her sister used to have theirs done the same day and go out for lunch afterwards...maybe you could do something to treat yourself afterwards. Just a thought.

It is so simple and easy! The worse part is probably standing in the right position while they do the actual mammogram. Just do it - and then you will ask yourself why you waited!

There really isn't anything to it. Just a little bit of squishing and it's over before you know it. Like the other poster said, the hardest part is standing still. Seriously.
It is so hard to think of anything else but your little ones, but as mothers we have an obligation to stick around to see our children grow up. Who else is going to wipe those noses and make sure they put on their hats? Something like this really is a no-brainer. Have the test and foget about it until next year ... except for that monthly exam you give yourself.
It's quick, it's easy, and you get to make sure you are doing what you can to keep yourself healthy.
I PROMISE you'll be glad you did. One less thing to worry about each year, ya know?
Go!

I was the same way. I didn't go until I was 42 and my mom has had breast cancer so I should have gone a lot sooner!! It is not as bad as you think. It is a little uncomfortable for a very short time on each breast. I would rather have a mamogram than a pap smear anyday. They really did a good job of doing it fast at my Dr. office. I have now had 3 of them and it was really not bad at all.
I agree with previous posts. It's a bit of an uncomfortable situation, but it's over quickly and well worth the peace of mind that going brings. Plus the ladies at the hospital where I go are so nice. They do everything they can to take your mind off of the wierd situation. They do help to make it less wierd. So go and get it over with. It' really not that bad at all!
I hope that you have already scheduled your appt. for your mamogram....I'm 38yrs. old and I just went for my first mamo. It's really not that bad but I'm really glad I went because there is 3 suspicious lumps that I need to have a biopsy on that I wouldn't have known about had I not gone to my mamogram. Don't wait!!! It's a little uncomfortable but over all not bad. Your boobs might be a little tender the next day.
