If Your Still Awake, Check Out Jupiter :)

My son and I just sat outside staring at the stars. Jupiter ( the brightest "star" near the moon) is very visible tonight. Its so bright and pretty. Here its a very clear sky and all of the stars are bright. Plus while out there we saw three falling stars! My 15yr old is the pretty typical teen who isn't into the cuddling, stood by me in my blanket and had his head on my shoulder while we just stood there quietly looking. It truly is the little things that count :) Him doing that instead of me doing it first really made my night.

So here is the question... what are little things that make you smile or say yup even though they are growing up they still love thier mom?

What can I do next?

Probably when my 10.5 yr old daughter goes to bed at night. She still wants me to tuck her in and she isn't officially tucked until she has taken her arms out from under the covers and has given me a full hug/squeeze (at her insistence that her arms be out - the only way it counts), then when I tell her I love her she says "I love you more!" Once in a while, she'll throw in a "Mommy", which she doesn't call me anymore.

My son, 13 yrs old, also still expects a full hug every day. At bedtime, and usually several times throughout the day--especially when he sees I've been stressed (usually due to something related to him, lol). And he doesn't like to let go.

This is really cool.
Will go outside and look, with my kids.

I dunno... my kids are just still kids.... even though I see some of their classmates, their same ages... who act like Tweens already, or try to act older than they are.
My kids, just act their age.
For which I am glad.
They still got the childhood innocence.

Good post/question.

Thanks for the heads up about Jupiter! I just went outside and saw it...awesome! As for the little things that make me smile...my ten year old son wants to sit in my lap every morning while waking up a bit and wants me to snuggle with him. He has done this for quite awhile and I know that it will probably end soon, but right now I'm loving it! He will also give me a hug and a kiss when I drop him off at school even though a couple of kids have made fun of him for doing it. He told me that he said to them...."What's the matter? Don't you love your Mom? I sure do!" If only they could stay young forever. (Sigh)

My oldest is six, so I haven't reached that stage yet, but it scares me. Right now, I don't have as much time to invest because of a very demanding toddler, and I keep hoping things will change before my older one doesn't want to cuddle anymore. So your story is encouraging...thanks. :)

Every full moon I take my 3 year old out (after she is supposed to be in bed and everyone else is in bed) and we look at the moon. Even when it is freezing cold or snow all over the ground. She looks forward to it each month! I also have a 2 year old and I can't wait to start doing it with her.... but seperate!! Having that special alone time is so wonderful! I pray and hope it goes on for years- even into the tweens!
