IM NOT WORRIED ABOUT IT BEING A HUGE ORDEAL..WE JUST HAVE ALOT OF FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS THAT WILL BE ATTENDING

I don't know if DZ (Discovery Zone) is around any more but if not how about a bounce around play gym for kids? Like a bounce house place with mats and nets to climb. They host parties real well and clean up, and the kids will wear themselves out and have fun. I don't know what's in your area but good luck.

We had our daughter's 1st birthday party last year at the end of March (3/27 is her birthdate).

With our son, we had a big shindig. With our daughter, we invited over 3 families who had kids her age, had pizza and let them play. We still got the awesome cake pictures and have no regrets about not making a bigger deal about it.

My only advice is not to worry about the party and really enjoy the occasion. You only get a first birthday once, and all the hassles of planning a party and being a hostess can be a drain.

My son has a November birthday and for a while I considered having his party somewhere else...the rec centers have some great indoor facilities. You may look into that. I checked with the parks department of several cities nearby. Some of them were more for a wedding setting, but some were perfect for a birthday party. I do remember that N. Richland Hills had the best prices. You were allowed to decorate and bring food, you just had to be sure to clean up and leave it how you found it. Some of the cities even had houses you could rent for events!

Have you looked into church community/family centers that you can rent out? My husband and I are Clowns and we've done quite a few birthday parties where the family has rented a community/family center. There's usually a good amount of room (even for a bounce house and us) and a kitchen/bathroom. You would provide the food/beverages and entertainment yourself. I don't believe that they are too expensive.

If you do need any entertainment for your party, please take a look at our website at www.freewebs.com/bubblesandwowza. You provide magic shows, face painting, balloon art, glitter tattoos and even cakes.

Hope you have a great party.

I think it all depends on you and what you expect from that day! I had invited a lot of people and over half cancelled at the last minute. I think a home setting is the best. You have everything you need! It will be alot less stressful for your daughter too if she is in familiar settings. Especially if she gets sleepy. We rented a huge bounce house for our backyard for $80 and my son had a blast (mommy and daddy too) we did the sesame street theme :) sooo cute . pizza, soda and chips. The most important part is to make sure you take plenty of pics and you all are relaxed. Ask a grandparent for help in taking pictures, cleaning,etc.... She will only turn one once.....
Good Luck
