We are going "camping" (staying in a cabin) in Beaver's Bend. I am worried about the kids being bored (4,2) and am looking for ideas just in case we get rained out or stir crazy and can't swim and hike. Looking for ideas of things to do for entertainment and good family memory making. It's my first time doing this ever so I am at a loss. Obviously we'll make smores! I am gonna have the kids make trail mix before we go. Otherwise....
We had good weather so that helped a lot. We got to go to the Nature Center, we swam in the lake and the river (it was freezing though), we did paddle boats, saw the dam, went to Whipoorwill's, went on several hikes, the kids swam in the cabin's jacuzzi, we made trail mix before we left and they got to decorate their baggies with stickers, we also gave each kid a box to put all their nature treasurers in (rocks, leaves, flowers) so they wouldn't load down pockets with them :) , we went to Papa Poblano's (yummy) and drove around enjoying the scenery. The kids thought going in and out the cabin doors and around the deck was entertaining. It was a great trip I would reccomend to any family.

We went camping this spring with two 5 yr olds and a 2 yr old. It rained and was chilly all weekend, but we went on "mud hikes" & were still able to have a campfire for cooking/s'mores. There was a little park at the campground we went to (swings and a slide) and the kids enjoyed that. We also took a couple of board games, some Bendaroos/Wickie Sticks (you can get these at Hobby Lobby), frisbees, a football and bubbles. Overall, we all had a fun time & no one was bored. They were so tired at night they were falling into their sleeping bags! The little girl started out not wanting to get dirty, but we just kept talking up how fun it was and that it's okay to get muddy when you camp & she ended up having as much fun as the boys. Good luck & I hope y'all have fun!
I wouldn't worry about the kids getting bored at Beaver's bend. Their are all kinds of activities their to do (hiking, swimming, train, horses, playing in the creek) The nature center also has activities planned thru out the week. So check with them, they make crafts, feed the animals ect. When we do go camping, I always bring a deck of cards, board games, and crayons and paper. (To make leaf rubs, the kids love it). Just remember to have fun.
Take some board games, and cards. Go on a nature hike or scavenger hunt. We also made biscuits on a stick and hot dogs on a stick. Make leaf rubbing inside your cabin as a craft. We went camping last year and it was really fun. Take lots of pictures.
