T.S.
Sudoku puzzles and time with friends was what got me through it. The best thing you could do is just go sit with her and talk, or play a game with her. TV gets old really fast. Another thing that was good was reading baby books.
Hi everyone -
I know this has been asked before but I haven't always paid attention to the responses..Anyway, I have a girlfriend who is 30 weeks pregnant and now on bed rest AT the hospital. Any suggestions on what to bring her? I have brought over movies & games but I want to be a little more creative. She does have minimal W/C privileges but not much. Any suggestions/thoughts/ideas would be great!
Also - any ideas on what to do for a baby shower?
Thanks in advance!

As for the baby shower....maybe you want to wait and have a "meet the baby party!!" We did that with a girlfriend who was on bedrest because they had a very troubled pregnancy. Up until the day she was born, they were praying that they would have a healthy happy baby. They did...so we had the meet the baby party! In addition to a gift for the baby, we also brough a frozen/premade meal for them :) It was fun to have a baby shower/party with the "guest of honor" in attendance :)
When I was in that situation I wanted magazines, and lots of 'em. I couldn't concentrate on books, so mags were just perfect.
magazines. Just come a hang!
Count down things to her due date like paper chain she can take one off each day. Visual stimulation like pictures of friends and family...
Good luck
food =) even the "best" hospital food can get pretty old pretty fast. the best thing my friends brought me in the hospital were meals i couldn't really get there-- like good pizza or meatballs =) see if there's something she wants in particular... unless she has diet restrictions most places will let you bring in outside food
I was on bedrest for 10 weeks and my favorite thing someone brought me was a book on how to crochet, a set of crochet needles, and super cute, soft, all-cotton yarns in various baby colors. I never thought I would be into knitting or crocheting, but it turned out to be a great time killer. I ended up spending a lot of time on my laptop searching for easy patterns and stuff to copy.
I also highly reccomend getting started addressing birth announcement envelopes, thank you envelopes, etc. This is one of the last things I felt like doing AFTER I was home with the baby and wished I had done it while on bedrest.
What a good friend. I was on bedrest for two months last summer. My attention span was short and I found that magazines were a nice distraction because they didn't require a lot of energy. I also listened to a lot of books on CD. Every night I listened to a relaxtion CD as I fell asleep. Healthy snacks such as fruit and granola are another good thing as the hospital food is usually pretty bad.
