My son turns 4 in Sept. and I'm trying to come up with fun birthday party ideas. I know it's far away but I'm a planner!!! He didn't have a bday party last year since his sister was born two weeks prior to his birthday. This year I would like to do something fun for him. I'm not a fan of chuck e. cheese...we have a swimming pool but that seems like it would be crazy and nerve racking not to mention the parents would have to get in too. We live in Allen so it would be nice to keep it close. Any fun suggestions?

I don't know if there is one near you or not (there probably is), but we did my 5 year old daughter's part at Pump it up and all the kids had a blast. At 4 years old they could do either Pump it up Jr or Pump it up I think - If you have both near you I would check both out and see what you think or base it on how old the other kids coming are too. Also, for a really great cake that you can custom design however you want that tastes really great too, and is a small fraction of the cost you would pay at a bakery check out http://icedartistry.blogspot.com/ - we got my daughter's Cinderella cake from her and it was the hit of the party. Looked awesome, tasted awesome!

We're doing a bowling party for my son's 4-year party in just a little over a week! The price is very reasonable, is for up to 10 kids (then you pay extra per-head if you go over), and includes food/drink for all the kids. All we bring is the cake! We've decided to have a couple extra pizzas and drink pitchers for the parents who will be there, but that's it. It's at the Main Event (Plano location, but all locations have party options.) Good luck!!

First Learning at FBC McKinney had a magician come, last week, and he was geared towards preschoolers. He was $175 and awesome!! He had a rabbit and everything. His name was Brian and is in Dallas Child and voted entertainer of the year. I'll find out more if that's interesteibg to you. I did a magic party when my son turned 6 and had a blast. We had 23 kids here, so it was nice not to pay per child.

ASI Gymnastics on Exchange is good. There is also - The Little Gym of Mckinney is Wonderful. At both places they do everything for you. You just have to supply the food and drinks! It is indoors so you don't have to worry about the weather issue and it is perfect for 4 year olds.
Fire Stations are fun if your son is into Fire Trucks and Pump it UP is always a hit. The only issue with that is that the kids pretty much entertain themselves while at the gymnastics parties you have someone leading the party the entire time. The Heard Museum in McKinney is also a fun spot.

My niece is going to have a Soccer Tots party next month. My toddler goes to the classes once a week and enjoys the 50 minutes of fun activities. Seems like a much better deal for the cost than any place like chuck-e-cheese where you just get a room and the kids kind of run around and do their own thing. The Soccer Tots includes almost an hour of instructor-lead activities for the kids. http://www.soccertotsdallas.com

My son turns 4 June 11th and we are just doing a Big BBQ at our house. Friends and Family. Getting out the slip n slide, pool, boys' quad and power wheels truck. Transformer themed. The kids love being able to have friends over and just Run Wild.

We had a bowling party this year. It was, actually, Cosmic Bowling. They turn the lights off and the black light on. They play music and give the kids glow necklaces. The bowling balls glow. It was a lot of fun! The Brunswick Bowling Alley in Denton.

My son turns four in July and is having his party at a local fire station. They do a tour of the fire house, a fire safety lesson, ride on fire truck, and squirt the fire hose. You can call local fire stations to see if they do them as well. They just ask for a donation.
Good Luck!

If you want to do it somewhere other than your house, there is Pump-It-Up Jr. in Plano. It is designed for kids under 8 and has smaller bounce things than the regular PIU. They have a party room for cake after the kids wear themselves out. We have taken our kids and they loved it!

Does your son like firemen, firetrucks and things that go along with that? If so, check with the Allen Fire Dept and see if they allow birthday parties.
