So my oldest daughter is turning 6 on March 1. This year she wants to do a slumber party with 2 friends instead of a big party. What ideas do you have for them to do? I was thinking of getting a pizza, playing twister, dance party and I was thinking of getting each girl a little headlamp and another nice gift since I am not spending the money on a big party. Any ideas appreciated.

What can I do next?

My daughter went to a similar party and they decorated pillow cases and the mom gave them each cosy slippers that they still love.

You can make no-sew pillows with fleece material, the edge cut in strips that look like fringe and then tie knots to connect front and back ofpillow to eachother. If the pillow is to be 12" X 12" the square you cut should be 18" X 18" to allow for a minimum of 3 inches on either side to knot and leave for fringe.

Decorate picture frames and take & print photo of the night together.

Decorate t-shirt, baseball cap, tote bag.

You can do manicures and hair-dos with only 3 girls. You can go shopping to the dollar store or local kids gifty shop and give each girl $10 to spend. Ice cream sundaes, ice their own cupcakes.

My only concern is that with 3 kids often time one kid is the odd man out. consdier adding one more child. It's a really long night for the child sleeping over who's the one that's "out". My daughter would never have been able to make it through a sleepover at age 6 so keep that in mind. For the sleepover birthday parties we had we always offere dthe choice of pick-up at 10:00 or sleepover. If give kids an out if they need one.

And remembe "sleep" shouldn't be included anywhere in the name "sleepover" since there's so little of it happening. Expect that a nap will be needed the next day!

My daughters friend mom did one last year when her daughter turned 7 and they made a build a bear kit that she picked up for all the girls at JoAnn fabric. This way when they were done with it, they had a cute stuffed animal to sleep with.

I've heard of decorating pillow cases too.

I think something they can actually use that night, take the time to make and then take home is a great idea.

You have some great ideas. You might also rent a movie. The Ramona & Beezus movie is a cute one for this age group. They may also enjoy just having time for free play.

You might buy different ice creams and toppings and have them make their own sundaes (if you're not serving cake that night).

we J. had one with 8 girls who slept over when my daughter turned 6. we did tons of fun stuff!

We made a smore box. simply nailed together three long pieces of wood filled with rock and then used sterno cans for indoor smoore bar...super cheap and fun

we also set up beach tents and decorated them all girly and hung white christmas lights over them for their nightlights

i got starbucks frap glassbottles and took off the labels and then filled with milk i died pink and purple and then put sprinkles on the top odge of the bottles using sugar for the splinkles to stick so they'd have milk with their smores ready

we played freeze dance..always a HUGE hit whether its 2 girls or 20

i got these cute decorative paper unbrellas with a cherry blossom on it off of oriental trading they were 3 bucks a peice and hung them up so they were pretty decorations. the last 2 girls picked up got one each to bring home. they loved playing with them and walking around pretending they were super fancy with them.

oh and you can get 100 glowsticks off of ebay for 10 bucks and make all sorts of games with them
i saw one person posted a game where you put a time on each balloon with a note in it of what activity to do.

for emmys party they free played most of the time with freeze dance being the only organized game.
i love scavenger hunts too. i forget but i think we may have done one scavenger hunt where they got plastic rings at the end...

for freeze dance they all won a stuffed animal for playing and were super excited to sleep with them
oh and i set up a candy/cookie table too. a cheap version of a candy bar

a few glass vases filled with purple and pink cheap candy. pix sticks, those flower lollipops that are pretty and are 30 cents a piece at the party store, the pastel marshmallow sitcks.

i loveplanning kids parties=)

You've gotten a lot of fun ideas.

What about a sleep mask?

The only thing I would suggest is to invite 3 girls instead of 2. Having an odd # of girls tends to always leave one out. Does that make sense?

If you have a Wii they could play one of those dance games. A movie is always good to wind down before bedtime.

If they are going to have movie time, you can do movie bingo. My daughter watched "The Tooth Fairy" at her slumber party, and I made up bingo cards with different things to find in the movie. They used pennies for markers and the girl who won got to keep all the pennies. You could use candies or treats as well.

I don't have any answers, but wanted to mention that I hope you asked your daughter what she wants to do before you asked us. Sometimes those little six year olds have much better ideas for their own parties.
