We went to the exhibit when my daughter was daughter was 3 1/2 and my son was 18 months old. This was 3 years ago. The exhibit is awsome. I would not recommend taking small children. They didn't have a parka small enough for my son so I carried him the whole time wrapped in a blanket. The parka for my daughter was too big as well and she had a hard time walking and wanted to be carried too. I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have because of this things. I highly recommend it for adults and children 5 and up. They have a really neat ice slide the kids can slide on. I forget the heighth requirements. My daughter was too short at 3 1/2.

Dear J.,

"Ice" is unbelievable! We go every year and take our grandchildren. You and your husband would love it, but your children are probably a bit too young to enjoy it, and it's VERY cold! It's only 9 degrees in there. If you do go, take hats, gloves and scarves for everyone. You will be provided with an insulated coat. At first you might hesitate to wear it, because it's not exactly gorgeous, and you don't know who had it on last, but wear it anyway. The only way to enjoy the show is to wear the thing, so "Just do it". Otherwise, you will be too cold. There's a slide made out of ice that your children WOULD enjoy.

If you haven't been to see the Gaylord's decorations, it's worth going, just for that. There are lots of photo ops. The kids will love the decorations in the hotel. Santa is there, as is Mrs. Claus. Your children will enjoy the hotel more than "Ice" (except for the slide).

Enjoy!

I agree with Brenda... I was there 2 years ago too. Pretty but crowded and kind of rushed. If you could stroll and not freeze to death it would be nice to hang out.

It was a one time thing for us.

It's really pretty, although smaller than I expected. So, so, so not worth the money though.

I wouldn't recommend it for younger children. We went 2 years ago when our son was 2 1/2 and our daughter was 6. Our daughter enjoyed it. Our son was cold and the big parkas they wear were too big for him. He couldn't walk and had to be carried. He didn't enjoy it at all as he was terribly cold. At the end of the walk, they had several ice slides. We missed the sign somewhere in the crowd that said children of his age had to go on the bottom, smaller slide and my husband stood in line for 20 minutes in the freezing cold to be told that they couldn't go down the large slide. Our 2 1/2 year old was not happy and then wouldn't go down the smaller slide. With young kids, I didn't feel it was worth the cost or the amount of time we spent standing in line.

Never been to ICE, so I'm glad you asked the question. However, we go every year to look at the trains and see Santa, etc. That part is sooo worth it! There's a coffee shop somewhere out there and you can get hot chocolate with the kids and have a fun little stroll through their wonderful Christmas lights and decorations. Great for holiday pictures too!

I went 2 years ago and thought it was very pretty! However, I don't think it was worth the money. I enjoyed it, but don't think I'll go again. Just to walk around, it was $45 for just me and my husband. I enjoyed walking around downtown Grapevine much more than the Ice exhibit, and that was free! I've read from other moms on here that it's also not good for kids under 5 because it's so cold and there's a lot of walking. If you decide to go, they do give you parkas, but bundle up because it's 9 degress inside. The ice slide was really neat, and it is pretty amazing how they designed the ice sculptures.

I went with my family (and extended family). It was cold :) I didn't think it was worth the $20 per person. There was an ice slide for the younger kids (I have twin 3 year old girls) but the line was long as was the line to get in.

The exhibit is awesome! We took our daughter last Christmas and thought it was worth every dime. It is expensive but worth it. They have changed the exhibit up from last year and I believe it's even better. I can't emphasize enough, dress warm!!!! They keep it at 9 degrees and they do supply the parkas but you need to dress WARM!! I don't think you'll regret going.

We went last year and had a blast! We took a 16 year old, two 12 year olds and a 7 year old. The atrium when you first walk is beautiful decorated with the holiday theme. A big beautiful tree and some little minature trains running through mini towns and mountains. There are places to get hot chocolate and cookies.
We told our 7 year old (who still believed in Santa) that Santa had given us special access to visit the north pole and that when we walked through the doors of 'Ice' that we were being warped into the North Pole. All of the kids went along with it and when we walked through the doors and saw all of the colorful ice it felt like we were in a winter wonderland! At the end of the exhibit, there is a room that is full of slides for the kids and it looks like santa's workshop!
I would suggest that if you want to slide down, don't wear heels. They wouldn't let me slide down because I had high heeled boots on. They don't want anyone poking the slides since they are made out of ice.
Anyway, we had a blast. It was worth every penny!
