The problem with most diets is that you can't do them forever. You lose 10 pounds and then... "reward" yourself by eating whatever you want... and quickly gaining it all back. Why even start a diet if you can't maintain your weight once you drop the extra pounds? You must find a way to maintain a healthy weight without time-consuming means because YOU'RE BUSY with 3 kids!! :)
Seven years ago I attended a weight loss class through church. It was the perfect solution to yo-yo dieting. I know this is going to sound crazy but this is what you need to do... only eat when you're hungry (don't even eat if it's meal time if you're not hungry). Stop eating when you're "politely full". Pay attention to your stomach and eat slowly (apparently there's a 20 min delay between feeling fill and getting full). If you excercise a lot, your body will tell you you need more food by getting hungry, if you don't excercise, you need less. You'll find that when you eat sugary, fatty foods, you fill up REALLY fast. If you eat light foods, you can eat more before you fill up. I choose to eat food that tastes good but eat less. :) If you let yourself go hungry for a little while, you're body will starting eating your extra weight. Seems too easy, huh? I thought so too but I lost the weight and have kept it off for 7 years, eating foods I like - there are no light or sugar-free foods in my house. In the beginning, it was hard for me to change how I thought about food - I wanted to eat everything in front of me because it tasted good. I would have to get up from the table and throw away the rest of my hamburger so I wouldn't eat it. Now I hardly think about it. I hate the feeling of being overly full.
Your body knows when you need "fuel" and makes you feel hungry, it knows when you're full and makes you feel full. You can't rely on a label or points to know when you're hungry and how much food you need to feel full. When you think about it, doesn't that seem crazy?
If you like what you're eating and don't want to stop, package it up and eat it tomorrow. Why worry about throwing away $3 worth of food because you're full, and then pay Weight Watchers $10 a week to tell you to stop eating your $3 worth of food?
We often times eat when we're feeling lonely, depressed, anxious, etc. Why? Food doesn't love you back. Only God can fill that hole in your life consistantly and lovingly.
Sorry for the long-winded response! I just hope this helps! It sure helped me!!
