I was 41 years old and had had a tubal after the birth of my 3rd daughter due to a very difficult pregnancy resulting in the premature birth, 9 weeks early, of our daughter. We then adopted a beautiful baby boy from Guatemala when our youngest daughter was 3 1/2 and that was the best experience in the world and I would adopt again in a heartbeat!! If you and your husband really want another child, please remember that there are other ways, and adoption is a wonderful way to grow your family!! Our oldest son is no less our child than the children I have given birth to! God had planned for that little boy to be ours before he was born! Because adoption from Guatemala is no longer possible, and we had reservations about adopting from other countries for various reasons, and knowing how unlikely it was that we would be chosen by a birth mother for domestic adoption, as parents of 4 other children, we decided that we wanted to get pregnant again after 10 years. Our infertility specialist said that the tubal could be reversed, but that there would only be a small chance that it would work. He suggested instead that we pursue IVF. This is what we did and we successfully got pregnant on our first try and, although it was a very difficult pregnancy for so many reasons, none having to do with the process of IVF, we had a beautiful baby boy nine months later! I never had a problem getting pregnant, so I was not surprised that it worked first time out of the gate, but so grateful that it did, since it is not an easy or inexpensive process! For us, it was a wonderful experience, and I would recommend it, as well as adoption, as an option for adding more children to your family! Good Luck!!

You'll need to talk to an ob-gyn about your options. Sometimes tubals can be reversed, but there's no possible way us moms can tell you whether you are a candidate for reversal.

Cauterized... likely, not possible. I am just like you, same kind of tubal in 2007. I looked into reversal, but they have low success rates when tubes have been cauterized, and I was already in my mid 30s by that time. I was told IVF was the best way to go, since my husband and I have no other issues than the TL. I wish I had happier news for you - I have done two fresh rounds and two frozen transfers of embryos, 9 embryos transferred over the 4 rounds, and no baby. There is no real reason for this, other than possibly my age (37 now) and just that "it happens". I have not been satisfied with that, so we are going to a consult with a new doc today to see if he has anything different to say. I suspect there could be an issue with one of us but there is no way of knowing until we talk to him and possibly get more tests done.

The baby is one thing, the regret over having the TL is another, so I urge you to deal with that grief if you feel it necessary. That has been the hardest thing for me, knowing that I was "fine" and I had a foolish procedure done anyway. I wish you luck... I understand.

Yes, I've heard of women getting it reversed to have another child after a few years. Just make sure it's covered under your insurance and make sure you can take the time off necessary to heal.
