I'll cut the story short, I have a 3.5 year old girl, I am 8 months pregnant and unfortunately we dont have any family here... I am trying to make a contingency plan for the day i go into labor and the more it approaches i go crazy... because the babysitter i have, is now working at another place and she is only available after 6:30 pm... she goes to work 9 am... when i went to the hospital to deliver my first baby, it took me 26 hours to pop her out:) I really need someone who would be available for 24 hours at least when the time comes (actually, all my friends here were very nice to offer me their help but as you know-since we are all mamas- i dont know how long it will take and my husband is going to be with me through labor)...

Since you have no family here, I would definitely consider letting my friends watch my girl but if you aren't particularly comfortable with that option I would recommend looking into some kind of "nanny" arrangement for when the time comes. Perhaps your daughter could get the opportunity to meet the person and then you could determine what should happen at that time.

I know what you mean. I was worried when I was at that point even though I have some family nearby (almost everyone worked in the day). Can a friend watch her in the day while your babysitter is working? You could try a nanny service or maybe a preschool/daycare for days. We started my son in preschool 3 mornings when my daughter was a few months old but we should have started him before the baby. If you do that first then maybe she can be there and feel comfortable in the daytime if you are in labor. Also you might want a someone to help you here and there the first few weeks with the new baby. It is hard to juggle two kids at first but it get easier after the first few months when the newborn stage is over.

Have you ever considered having an au pair? It's a low cost way to have in-home childcare with having the hours be whatever you need them to be. You will need the extra help once you have two, trust me!! Best of luck to you :-)
