I gained 50 lbs when pregnant. After I had her, I ate fruit for breakfast and a smartones (frozen diner) for lunch and supper. The only thing I drank was water. It took several weeks but I lost it. Even though I have lost the weight, it is not the same though. My size 6's fit, but they fit different. Good Luck!

I have a co-worker that did just the drink and she did follow the no eating part. I know it says not to take any vitamin supplements, but she did cause she was afraid she wouldn't get all the vitamin's needed. The lemons are suppossed to provide all the vitamin's and minerals our body needs. It is actually a cleanse, but it also helps in weight loss cause it cleans out all the toxins in our bodies that we are carrying around. She lost about 5-10 lbs the first time she did it. She has since continued to work out and watch what she eats. No more then 15 carbs a day. 15 grams=1 carb. No the carb counting isn't the Adkins diet. Adkins actually mutilated a diet that has been around for YEARS! It is actually a diet for diabetics. My adopted mom is a diabetic and she has been counting her carbs for the last 30 years since she was diagnosed with diabetes. The average person should be eating no more than 15 carbs a day to maintain weight. 15carbs+exercise to loss weight. 10 carbs w/out exercise to loss wieght. Drink plenty of water.

i.e.
1 piece wheat bread=12 grams=almost 1 carb
1 single cheese=1 carb
1 piece of ham or turkey=no carbs
lettuce=no carbs
tomatoe=no carbs
1 handful of potatoe chips=1 carb
8oz glass of water=no carbs

Meal
Ham/Turkey and cheese sandwich+potatoe chips+drink=4 carbs

Meal Plan:
Eggs+fruit=no carbs
Eggs+toast=1 carb
Cottage Cheese 1/2 cup=maybe 1/2 carb

Lunch
sandwich+chips=4 carbs

Dinner
Healthy Choice,LeanCuisine,SmartOnes=3-4 carbs

-Look on the back panel for nutrition label. All nutrition labels list carbs in grams and at top of label it will say how much is in one serving. one handful of chips=1 serving
-Limit salt intake as this will cause you to retain water
-Most meats have no carbs(chicken and fish are best)
-Fruits/vegetables as long as not canned have no carbs
-If canned check label.
-Try to drink water, but if you have to have a soda drink diet as it has no carbs or limit the amount of reg soda and make sure to count those carbs. If fruit juice check the nutrition label for carbs.
-With just carb counting, you should loss 30lbs in 6 months. w/ cleansing about 2 and a half-3 months.
-Limit white sugar. If you need sweetener. Honey is all natural. Splenda, SweetNLow, NutraSweet.
-But you should exercise. 15 minute walk if you don't have much time to exercise should be enough. Take stairs when you can instead of elevator.
-Keep a journal if needed and count carbs at end of day 225 total grams daily if 15 carbs+exercise. This will tell you if you need to eat less carbs the next day if you accidentally ate to many carbs the previous day or be able to treat yourself with something special if you ate to few.
-If you need snacks, eat fresh fruit/veggies. Carrots, celery, grapes, strawberries.

I know what you mean, about losing your self-esteem. I couldn't fit into my size 8 and that was very depressing. I am on the Alli pills from Walmart. They are wonderful. check out the website. Alli.com

I haven't had the money to buy them recently, but i am sticking to what it taught me, until i can buy them. I was weighing 157 and now i weight 144. It took me 3 months to do this, but i wasn't excersing either. Now i try to walk at least a mile a day. on the weekends, i walk more. My neice is also on this diet and says the same thing i do. If it weren't for these pills, i wouldn't have lost any weight. i am only 5'1" so, you can imagine how big i was getting.
let me know how this goes for you.

You've gotten alot of good advice. I just want to say that at the beginning of June I wanted to lose 20 lbs by the end of August. That gave me 3 months. I exercised 6 days a week and I cut out all sweets and "bad" snacks. The 3rd month I tried following weight watchers with the online program. I lost 0 pounds. I was freaked out and went to the doctor for some tests because I was sure there was something wrong with me. I know what you're talking about.

What worked for me these last 2 months is cutting out the white stuff. White flour, white sugar mostly but also white rice and white potatoes. It's difficult for me to go too long without bread and such because I get too hungry. So I've found recipes online for muffins and breads that are made with wheat or bran, or other types of flour and with sugar replacements. I read alot of lablels and don't choose anything at the grocery store that has white sugar or flour in it. And I try to cut out the high fructose corn syrup. It's amazing the products that have this high on the list of ingredients. It is easier to find this stuff than you might think. I buy whole wheat pasta, polenta, and gnocci as well as oatmeal and all this helps fill the need for the white stuff. I don't miss it if I'm not hungry. I just make sure most of my meal is made up of fruit, veggies, and a small portion of lean meat and I add the whole grain item like a small side item and I've not been hungry one day. I started losing weight the first few days. And I feel great.

For me it was a blood sugar thing. Not everyone is going to have this issue, but if you're having a hard time getting started consider giving this a try. And the person who talked about the diabetes diet is on the same kind of track. I got alot of my recipes and principles of eating from the Bob Green Eating Right Book and I am now a hugh believer in this way of eating -- not just for a diet but as a lifestyle. He is good at explaining how to raise metabolism as well.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

You just had a baby 5 months ago, it's going to take some time. Your body is recovering from a lot and needs time and tlc. Remember -- one year on and one year (at least) off for healthy and maintainable weight loss. Are you nursing? If so, the weight will come off I assure you but only after 6 months was my experience.

M., I'm with you sweetie. I just dragged my hubby into the South Beach diet. It is very good & totally manageable. HOWEVER, you didn't mention whether or not you're nursing- that's going to keep some extra weight on (sometimes). I have a girlfriend who never lost all of her weight until the kiddos weaned, usually after the 1 yr. mark. For now, throw that baby into a stroller & get to walking & watch your food intake. Be very aware of what you're eating.

PS... don't write off having another baby just yet, he's young. Feelings change w/ hormones. I wasn't thinking of another when my first was 5 months either! I was just wanting sleep!

Everyone is right it just takes some time after you have your baby. The lucky women who are back in there prepregnancy clothes in a month are RARE (seriousely there is like 2 of them we just all talk about them because were jelous), it took me a little over a year to get back into my size 6 pants again. And one the bright side, it's getting cold out so there is nothing at all wrong with hanging out on the weekends in sweatpants, I lived in them for about the 1st yr of my daughter's life.
Hang in there. It gets better. I don't konw if this will help but I can also tell you that no one has probably noticed that you have not lost all the baby weight yet. If your family is like mine they are all just amazed by the little one and what a great mom you are.

Hi M.,

I hear ya! Try not to be so hard on yourself - your body's in shock. I don't know if you're nursing, but even if you weren't, I'd avoid diet pills - it's not real help. I had gestational diabetes during the last 3 months of my pregnancy and had to manage it with diet. It was the most amazing thing - i gained only 2 lbs during those 3 months, but ate like a pig (i was about 15lbs overweight before pregnancy). I learned how to eat a better balance of carbs/veggies/protein, etc. so that blood sugar didn't swing around. And you feel better all around when you eat right. Of course, I "fell off the wagon" after I had the baby due to a lot of traveling, but i'm planning to get back on it. See what you can find out online about this, and maybe call a diabetes care center to ask about healthy eating. The library might also have something to help. Good luck!

I was a siz 3 when I was younger - then I got pregnant at a much older age and losing the weight was a difficult and depressing task. After trying strenous workouts at the gym and starving myself and slim fast and everything else I could think of - I almost gsve up. Three years later I was still about 160-165 when my mother bought me the start up set of alli. I used it for about 3 months and I have dropped almost 30 lbs already... be sure to read everything though before starting the program. There are side effects if you are not careful of the fat in your diet. I absolutely love the program though and I have about 6 of my friends starting it as well... so far so good for them too.

I just had my son 10 weeks ago and are totally experiencing what you are!!! I thought that after the baby was out, my weight that I had gained (50 lbs.) would just fall off because I was breastfeeding. NOT TRUE! It is taking time for it to all go away, but it is! I have lost 40 lbs. to date from breastfeeding, but some of my weight is kept on because on breastfeeding. It makes some moms drop the lbs. quickly, and others keep it on a little longer until the baby is weaned. My suggestion to you is to cut out your carb intake if you are not breastfeeding, also try taking the baby for walks around your neighborhood. Not only will he love it, but you can get some exercise. Be positive and everything will fall into place. You just had a baby and your emotions/horomones/body is crazy trying to get back in place. Time will be on your side in helping you regain your pre-baby figure. Good luck on your weight loss!

I have been doing Weight Watchers since earlier this year and have lost around 30 pounds. It is very easy and you don't feel like you're on a diet. It really helps you change your lifestyle and eating habits so the weight will stay off. It only costs $10/week which isn't bad. I'm not a fan of pills because the second you stop taking them the weight comes right back. Plus, have you heard the side effects of the new diet pills on the market? No thank you, I like to have clean pants! :) Good Luck! It is definitely a struggle for a lot of us!

Hello I just saw your request and honestly have not read through the other responses. I am a physical therapist that specializes in women's health, and I specifically work a lot with prenatal/postpartum fitness. I could work with you probably once or twice in your home to give you a jump start to losing what's left of your jelly belly. It has been five months, so you really should not have any restrictions. There are a few key abdominal/core stabilization exercises as well as bottom and back exercises you should do. You can view my website at www.FitmamasSA.com and please contact me if you are interested. I would love to help you get a jump start on this.
Take care, and good luck!

I've been stuck in a rut and not able to lose weight. Then I heard about the 3-Hour Diet by Jorge Cruse (Cruise?)
I got his book at the half price book store for $3.

Basically you divide your calories allowed for the day into 5 meals and a 50 calorie bedtime snack. Instead of eating LESS, you eat MORE often. He says divide your plate into 4 sections each meal. One section should be protein, one section a carb and two sections fruit or veggie, and a small amount of healthy oil.

Its so easy to do! And for the first time in forever I've been able to lose 2 lbs a week, which is what his diet promises.

Please get the book and follow it! Its worked wonders for me. I realized I wasn't eating enough protein or enough calories so my body had gone into starvation mode. This diet has helped so much! Now my body loses weight easily!

Don't be so hard on your self. The weight will come off after time if you keep eating right and exercise. You may not see immediate results but stay on track. There is a website that I use to log my foods eaten and the amount of exercise I get in. It's 100% free and it helps you create a weight loss plan that works with you. The website is www.sparkpeople.com. I log in daily and track the foods I've eaten and it shows you how many calories you have eaten and even recommends an exercise plan that is doable. Check it out if you get a chance.

By the way, if you just had your son 5 months ago that is too soon to start expecting your body to go back to prepregnancy weight. It's true what one of the other moms below said: it could take up to a year or more to get the weight off. Just start taking your son out for walks in his stroller and eat right. My son is 1 year old and I'm still not where I want to be but I noticed a huge difference between 9 to 12 months in my weight. It's still coming off but more slowly now.

Don't get down, just remember that it takes time.

I know what you mean..Im wanting to lose about 20-30 lbs myself. I know exercise and eating right is the way to go, but it can be really hard. I decided to do the WW points system (you dont have to pay for it to do it on your own, there are PLENTY of websites with the info out there) Been on it the last 4 days and have lost 2 lbs already. Its nice because it holds you accountable for what you eating. I keep a excel spreadsheet on my computer at work and log EVERYTHING. Also drinking LOTS of water. I also starting taking NV. Not sure if its helping with the weight loss, but boy is my hair SO soft and healthier. Good luck in your weight loss and just try and stick to it.
