I had this for my son, and it was the best!! He still has it, and he's almost 3. I give it to all new parents.

My best friend just called to tell me that he and his wife are expecting their first baby! I am so excited. They're not finding out the sex so it makes it kindof hard. I want to get the baby a great gift! Any ideas?
Thanks, K.

I make diaper cakes that are always a hit. They can be used as centerpieces for a shower, and they have tons of diapers, wash cloths, receiving blankets and whatever else you would like to add. I can make it the colors of the nursery. Message me if you're interested, and I think I have a few pictures.
I received this gift from Red Envelope from my friend when we had our son, I have since given it to 3 people for their new little ones! They will get lots of "baby needs" but probably not something like this... it's a kit that you press the baby's hands and feet into a plaster-kit thing. I did it when Ryan was 6 weeks old and can't believe how tiny he used to be! Not sure how much you were planning to spend but I believe it's $60.

K.,
I can offer you so many ideas that are unique and perfect. How about Dr Karp's Happiest Baby on the Block, coupled with a Miracle Blanket to make the swaddling v-e-r-y easy and secure. We also have many unique and hard to find slings, buggy covers, white noise cd's and classes. You can look online or come in to our shop here in Grapevine to see for yourself.

Hi, you could try discovery toys. I personally recommend the curly pals and/or the super yummy teether. Those are pretty cool products. My web site is: www.getkidtoys.com
A cute basket with necessities is great like onesies, baby bath, travel set, baby lotion, stuff like that. It sounds like you're very excited for your friend as you should be!
Whatever you chose, if it comes from your heart, I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

Hi K.,
Kay at the Nesting Place is a very good friend of mine. She's has lots of neat things at her retail store in Grapevine.
Check out http://www.kiddosdelight.com where you can receive a gift certifate so that you friend can choose a personalized music CD for her child when he/she is born. Listen to some of the sample music on the downloads page. My Very Own Music is an adorable album for infants.

I love giving these nursing covers as a gift. They look hip and are so easy to use.
One of my favorite gifts that I received was a basket full of goodies that I would always use it had diapers, wipes, baby wash, wash clothes, receiving blankets, paci's, onsies, booties, lotion, diaper cream.
Good Luck and I hope this helps.

Hi Kristin~
I have a unique idea...I am a muralist. I do children's rooms primarily. I'd love to help them put together a mural...as simple and delicate or as fun and bold as they'd like. Please visit my website: www.cherrytreemurals.com and give me a call to talk to me if you would like to consider this fun and unique gift idea.
Thanks,
T. L. (Flower Mound)

I second the miracle blanket. We bought ours at the Nesting Place and it was the best $30 we spent. We also bought the Ultimate Baby Wrap there and it is a must.
I loved the book " The girlfriends guide to pregnancy" It is the best book ever and wished i had read it earlier in my pregnancy.

One thing I loved was a Butler Bag (purse that can double as a diaper bag -- with a place for everything) and a buggy bag for the grocery store www.buggybagg.com LOOOOOVE my buggy bag! :)
I make baby gifts as well. Check out some of my items. SInce the gender of the baby is going to be a surpirse, I have neutral fabrics that I use as well. Shopping for baby gifts is so fun, isn't it!

The one thing that has been a life saver for me with a newborn is a baby sling. I love mine! I can carry my baby practically all day, but still have my hands free for light house work. She sleeps better at night, and cries less during the day. I can nurse in it, and the greatest part is that it can be worn in various ways, so I can use it even when she's a toddler.
I got my sling at www.mammasmilk.com. The women who own the company are great, and there are so many fabric designs to choose from. Being a rocker girl at heart, I got the one with skulls and roses, but there are tons of other choices. The cotton ones are $45, and they also have really luxurious silk slings for $75.
