My 13 month old keeps waking up a night screaming and crying and believe me she cries loud. I don't understand. It was great while it lasted. Naps and bedtime, I would feed her give her the pacifier and put her in the crib and I would walk out and that is all it took. She would sleep through the night. I was so excited I was blessed w/this quite baby. See my partner spoiled our first daughter and it was hell putting her to sleep. Till to this day it is hell w/our first daughter. She will only fall asleep in our bed. Anyhow to get back to the second baby, around Thanksgiving time she got sick. She had a cold, she was dehydrated, vomiting, double ear infections, etc. She was sooooo sick. Since she has been doing better but now naps and bedtime are a nightmare. She has not been the same since. As soon as she knows it is bedtime or nap time, it is non-stop crying and we have to put her to sleep either in the carrier or the stroller because the crib is out of the ?. And then it is wake up time for her every 3 hours. It is out of control. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

What can I do next?

What about teething? Molars usually start around 14 months so she could be feeling the pain of molars coming in to the jaw before breaking through the gums.
Also, after Eli was sick with the flu and his sleep schedule got kinda screwy it took him a couple weeks to go back to a regular schedule. It did work itself out eventually though.

Brenda,

Are you certain that the ear infections are 100% cleared up? Laying down with an ear infection can be pretty painful (as I'm sure you know having 3 kids!). Maybe there is still some fluid in there. Which would explain why she can fall asleep in the stroller/carseat where she's elevated.

Just a thought.

Brenda,

I understand what you are going through my lil' one is doing it now. Come to find out her molars are coming in. Just take a deep breath and count to 10 many of times. If you have a partner or if her daddy is there with you ask them to help you during the night. If not honey hold tight and it will be over soon. Have you had her ears checked out? Maybe an ear infection?? That is when my children always had the really loud cries, the painful cries (just because this is the only way to let you know that they are hurting somewhere)

Being a mom takes a lot out of a person. I would always call my mom (even at 2 am) asking what am I doing wrong why won't the baby calm down. She always gave good advise. She would say Turn the Dryer on and walk and sway with the baby. (after giving her some teething gel) and sing to her. And ALWAYS REMEMBER baby feels when mommy is upset and not relaxed. This makes the baby more upset. Ya know, even after having 3 kids I still call my mom for the little ideas that she did with me and my brother. It works.

Just remember to count to 10 and home appliances can be the solution to the "big" things that we don't know how to fix.

Good Luck :o)
