F.H.
Mildred, Ruth, Ilene, Victor, Dean, Loretta, Adaline, Gretha...those are all my "old family" members names that I can think of. =)
I bought this really cool ooooold family portrait from the antique store yesterday. Usually you find prints with just a single person (ranging from 5-15 dollars a pop!)... This was was $2 for this huge picture! It's so neat! I've been collecting old pictures, I'm getting really into this. These were PEOPLE, someone's family, daughter, father, child... the stories behind them are limitless!
I have one where a woman is actually smiling. That's the first one I bought. I LOVE it!!
Anyway, so I've gotten into naming the people in these pictures, so when people ask 'Oh, who's that?' I can say 'Agnes' and smile because I really have no idea, it's just fun for me. A hobby of sorts.
SO, because I have this huge family portrait and 49 unnamed people, I need names!!
What are some 'old' names? I need both men's and women's names :)
HAHA! These are great, keep them coming!!
@Rae, I already have weird things happen around the house, nothing specific to the pictures... yet ;) We think it's either (or all of these people), Aunt Cathy, Uncle Brian, my grandMIL, or whoever my mummified human finger belongs to, AND/OR the woman who originally owned this house. It kind of follows us.
Mildred, Ruth, Ilene, Victor, Dean, Loretta, Adaline, Gretha...those are all my "old family" members names that I can think of. =)
Mildrid, Agatha, Agnes, Beatrice, Ruth, Margerie, Catherine, Dennis, Edgar, Moses, Wyatt, John, Wayne, Augustine, Agustas, Billy, John, Elvis, Egor, Davina.
I hope this helps! Thats all I could think of right now, but will update if I think of any more. How fun to name them!
Byron, Willard, Wyatt, Victor, Bartholomew(sp?, I have no idea how to spell this name), Leonard , Ethel, Edna, Esther, Gladis, Mildred, Beatrice..
I think it's a rather cool idea personally.
I collect old books, not pictures but I think it is rather neat ( especially black and white photographs). Ever had any "visitors" from collecting old picture frames? My stepfather bought this antique curio cabinet. Now he has lots of weird things happen in his home.
Added-Yep, I can understand that. I've had weird things follow me since I was little. At least you aren't alone. It would be interesting if some came from the pictures.

Names, as you know, go in and out of fashion. So what's "in" now was "out" before that, and "in" even before that. What's new right now is old!
Some people used to (and still do) combine these names with family names to make a full name. So, instead of Elizabeth Ann Smith, it might be Elizabeth Rivers Smith or Elizabeth Thompson Smith, with a family name in the middle.
Have fun! Sounds like a wonderful game!

Ok..didn't read all the replies yet...but my hubby had a story for me Friday.
He installs auto-glass so goes all ovr and meets all sorts of folks. He got sent to a farm outside of the cities and suburbia here-abouts.
79 year old farmer (he proudly proclaimed) named Elmer. His wife came out to offer a cool drink (unusually warm upper 70's here in MN in March..all sorts of recordbreaking the last week). Her name was Eunice.
He showed off his calves (the moo-ing variety, not the legs sort), his old old Rodeo winning belt buckles and pictures, and had all sorts of stories for my hubs. Even whipped out his "mouth harp" and "squeeze box".
You just can't make this stuff up...it was a "delightful" afternoon my hubby said!
So there are a few names for you. My hubby is named Ernie (Ernest), BTW, after a line of Grampas and such. It was that or Fred (the other Grampa). His Gramma's were Nellie and Alvina. Mine were pretty tame with Samual and Josephine, Alice and Robert (never met them). How about Conrad (my older brothers middle name after my Mom's fave Uncle who was in the Royal Canadian Air Force or some such?) On my maternal Gramma's side there are tons of Annunziata's. My very blond/blue eyed SIL calls them "spaghetti names"...we LOL and share her lefse! HA!
BTW~My teenage daughter has purchased a few small pics of strangers too...old ones like this. She digs them! The clothes and hairstyles, and the artistry of the prints as well.
Now I need to go read the other posts!!!
