Alright ladies I know there are so many of you and so I am hoping to get some great ideas of how you announced to your husband that you were pregnant. We are looking to get pregnant pretty soon and so in my head I am trying to think of creative ideas.
Also if you have any ideas of how to announce it to our parents that would be great too!

Thanks so much!

When I got pregant with my second child I made a tee shirt for my youngest child that said "BIG BROTHER TO BE". I put it on him under another nice shirt. At a family dinner I said oh wait I don't want his nice new shirt to get dirty and I asked my husband to remove the top shirt leaving only the undershirt. Everyone was at the table when he proudly displayed his new title. It was a pretty cool way to share the news with family.

I mailed my parents and inlaws a napkin that said Guess whos gonna be a grandma/gandpa? In different crayon colors they really got a kick out of it.

My brother and his wife did something really cute for my parents to tell them they were pregnant. They sent a blank card that they had written the #7 on. (It is my their first baby, but #7 represents that this will be my parents seventh grandbaby.) Then on the inside they wrote their due date and then signed it. That was it. My mother was floored and I thought that was such a cute way to tell her.

I bought a t-shirt for my 11 month old daughter that says, "I'm going to be a BIG SISTER!" There are tons of them with different designs/sayings on cafepress.com. Check it out!

My husband was there for my tests but I've heard this idea and always wanted to do it. Tell him you're making him a special meal, and cook everything with "baby" in it. Baby back ribs, baby carrots, baby corn etc. And have him guess the theme :0

For our first baby, I took my husband to the mall for shopping...we went into Barnes and Noble and I picked out a book called "So You're Going To Be A Dad."

For the second baby, to announce it to my parents, I bought a bifold picture frame and put my son's picture in one side. On the other side I printed out a big ? with "coming soon to a crib near you."

Good Luck!

My doctor had told me I could never conceive naturally. After 10 years of "when are you going to give me a grandbaby?", I announced to my inlaws that we weren't. Shortly afterwards, my husband decided we should try medical intervention (drugs) and with misgivings, I said okay.

The night before I was planning to make an appointment, I took the test. Positive, but I disbelieved so I took another. Positive. I simply blurted it out to my husband on the cell phone. Even after an exam, the doctor said I couldn't possibly be pregnant -it must be fibroids (which had a spine and heartbeat shown by the ultrasound......hmmmm!)

My approach with my sister was funniest of all. I just kept calling her "Aunt" and she thought I was talking about the fact that her dog was pregnant! Finally, I said "No, not Grandma, AUNT!!!! You are going to be an AUNT!" That finally got her attention.

When I was pregnant with my 3rd child I decided to have sweatshirts made up with all the grandkids names on them for my parents. My dad's had lighthouses and my mom's had angels and underneath each lighthouse/angel was a name. I left a blank one on each sweatshirt for the new addition. They were so thrilled and the whole family thought it was pretty cute.
Another one I did was I got a frame with 3 pictures spaces. I put a picture of my son, daughter and the 3rd I put a note in it that said "will it be a boy or girl? We'll find out on (due date)".
Good luck!!

My husband was always involved in the "testing" process. With the first, he was there when I took the home pregnancy test - so saw the results the same time I did. The second one he took the urine sample to the doctor's office for me, I called later that day and just gave him the results over the phone. I know that with our first we just started referring to our parents as "Grandma & Grandpa". It took my dad a couple times in one visit to catch on because his son from his first marriage had two boys already (both our parents are divorced). However, both of our moms caught it right away because these were their first. By the time we had the second my mom was renting a room from us, and she actually suspected that I was pregnant before we knew. To tell the other grandparents I believe we bought the oldest a shirt that referred to her as being the big sister and let her wear it around them when we were ready to break the news. Hope this helps.

I never surprised my husband, but the favorite way we announced it with our second child to our family was to make a T-shirt for the older child saying, "I'm a big sister" and having her wear it for our extended family to notice. It was fun to watch their expression when they read the shirt. We got mixed results. My mother-in-law read it and thought, "cute shirt" without realizing that it was true, my parents took awhile to see the shirt and then when they did, they got really excited right away. It was fun to watch.

Another idea we did when I was pregnant with our first happened to be around Christmas time, so we wrapped up a baby bottle or baby rattle and gave it to our extended family as a present and announced it that way. They opened the present and then said, "Does this mean what we think it means?" It would work for any special occasion.

However you do it, it will be very special! Congratulations ahead of time!! :)

For my second pregnancy, we found out right before Christmas, about 2 weeks before. So what I did, was have my daughter dressed up and hold a sign that read "I'm going to be a big Sister", and had photographs taken. Granted I work in a photography studio, so it was easy to book the time etc. I had other photos taken as well, and for the grandparents I put the pictures into frames and gave them as gifts. For the rest of the family that was attending Christmas dinner, I slipped a card with a picture of our daughter holding the sign into an envelope, and had everyone open these at the same time, just before dinner. (Long story short, that was the plan anyways.) To see the looks on everyone's faces was priceless. It was really great. So perhaps if you're lucky and can work around a special day or holiday. You're certainly welcome to my idea. Good Luck!

We bought our moms baby style picture frames and gave them to them as a gift. It took them both a couple of seconds to figure it out, but it was great to see the suprise on their faces.

In your case you could say 4 ... you, your hubby your daughter and the one in your tummy :-)

To tell our parents we made a t-shirt for my mom that listed all of the grandchildren's names with one footprint that said TBD on the due date. For my in-laws we handed over a picture to include in next year's calendar and it was the ultrasound. For my dad we just told him we forgot to include a picture in the Christmas card and showed him the ultrasound.

I told my husband by waking him up with a stick in his face. Then he said he needed doctor confirmation so I called him right after the doctor confirmed and didn't really have to say much other than it was true. :)

For our first pregnancy, I didn't have much time from the time I found out and when I husband would be arriving home. I couldn't come up with anything clever, so I put the stick in the refrigerator (gross, I know) on top of my Pepsi and asked my husband if he could get me one...hence he found the stick. For our parents, we either got a balloon bouquet or flower bouquest and put a bib on it that said "I love my Grandpa/Grandma."

When we were pregnant with our second daughter, we broke the news to the grandparents about the sex by having our oldest daughter wear a shirt that said..."Blame my sister." It was cute...it took them a couple moments to figure it out! Good luck!

We waited until we had ultra sound pics. It was funny how each person reacted. We bought several little picture frames and we made copies of the ultra sound pics. It was almost Thanksgiving so the picture frames could have been Christmas orniments or fridge magnets or just a small stand alone frames. I got my parents each one that said "I love Grandma" and "I love Grandpa". We just gave each person their picture as we saw them. It was fun because some did not "get it" and we had to really drop hints until they got it. We used the 8 week ultra sound picture. :) Good luck and have fun!

See if you can't get hold of the I Love Lucy episode where she's trying to tell Ricky she's expecting. It's a great one.
If you can find it, watch it together. Then give him that "look". Or hand him a note as if you were writing Dear Abby and say 'I can't think of a creative way to tell my husband I'm expecting'.

Congrats in advance!

I told my mom that she was going to be a Grandma with flowers delivered to her work. The card just said Congratulations Grandma and my name. She loved having everyone ask her what the flowers were for!!!

For my in-laws that live around us we took them out to eat and then I said “Oh by the way we wanted to congratulate you on being Grandparents AGAIN” and they looked at us for a second and almost started to cry :).

I don’t have any cute ways of telling your husband, I couldn’t wait that long :).

hi B.! How exciting!! I have always talked with my husband about everything as it was happening, so when I bought the pregnancy test and did it, he was aware of it and was excited along with me, and felt very much a part of the whole process. But it was fun to think of ways to surprise the grandparents. We bought a grandparents card and gave it to them. Maybe it happens to be close to an anniversary or birthday/etc. for them and then you would have a 'reason' to present them with a card anyway so it wouldn't seem as suspicious and can catch them even more off guard which makes it even more fun...
God bless and have fun figuring out what to do : - )

We announced our child's arrival with a Christmas gift from me to my husband, which was opened in front of friends and family. It was a little onesy that said "My first Michigan T-Shirt." My husband was in on it, but it took everyone else a second to figure out what was up. Then there was that big "Oh!!!" moment when it hit everyone.

You might also give your daughter a gift in front of your husband of a "I'm the Big Sister" t-shirt...they are easy to find. She won't understand...but he'll get the idea!

Good luck, and have fun!

For our baby I ran out and got some baby bibs. I put them in gift bags. When my husband got home from work I said I just got him a little something. He pulled out the baby bib that said "I Love Daddy." His eyes got big and smiled so wide!

Then I put an "I Love Grandma" and an "I Love Grandpa" one in the other bag and we went over to my parents. I just told them I got them something I thought they'd be needing soon. They couldn't have been more surprised or happier.

Good luck to you. Looks like you're getting a lot of great ideas!

I love surprises! When I found out I was pregnant with #3, our daughter, my husband was away on business. I decided to wrap a cute little pink onesie (after two boys we were praying for a girl :)) and little booties. When he got in the car at the airport we had him open the box and I took a picture of his response. I think with one of the other ones I just wrapped up the pregnancy test for my hubby.

With our parents, we found out with #4 that we were pregnant right around Mother's Day. We made shirts for both of our moms which had four hearts stamped on with fabric paint. Each heart had one of our children's names on it. The last heart said "baby". Again, we took pictures of the responses.....PRICELESS!!

For your parents, you could shake a rattle under the table during dinner, eventually someone will catch on a baby is coming. Also, if your parents are leaving any time soon you could great them at their arrival with signs saying welcome home grandma and grandpa, round #2. As far as your husband, you could buy a shirt for yourself that says baby in the oven, or baby on the way. There are a lot of little clever saying out there for expecting moms. I tied a rattle around our dogs neck and when my husband came home the dog greeted him and he knew right away there was a baby on the way. I'm sure there are also good ideas on line, check it out. Have fun with it!

Buy your husband a sticky bun and when he comes into the kitchen, put it into the oven and announce, "Look! A bun is in my oven!" :)
