Anyone ever done this? I'm going to call the pharmacy, but I'm more interested in seeing if someone else has done this by accident... I'm not really worried, but still, it would be nice to hear some input on this. Thanks!

Once, long ago, when I was having problems with my jaw locking up, the dentist (specialist of some kind) wrote me a prescription for 800 mg motrin 4 times a day for two weeks....

Don't sweat it.... it is good to be concerned so you don't do it frequently, but don't worry about it.

I take 800 mg (4) all the time. Literally, every time I have a headache. Up to 2400 mg per day is an anti-inflammatory dose. No big deal!

I take 4 Motrin (at the same time) every day. It's the prescription strength.

If they are 200mg each - you will be absolutely fine. If they were prescription strength of 800mg each - then you need to call the pharmacy.

I routinely need 800mg for pain and headaches - and I"m a Nurse, so take my advice as you will.

Perscription does come in 600 and 800. Just make sure that you eat some bread or crackers. It can be hard on the stomach.

Not a problem, there is prescription motrin that comes in 600 mg tablets and I can take 2 of those. Over the counter is 200mg so times 4 is still only 800 mg. I often just take 3 of the 200mg ones for severe headaches. I have no stomach upset with Motrin, but some people do. Hope you feel better soon with whatever you took the ibuprofen for.

You will be fine - that is only 800 mg (if they are the standard motrin) - I once had a headache so bad that I took 8 - I was fine! LOL ~ I was wanting to take 800 mg. which I had been prescribed after I had my babies, and took 8 pills instead of 4 - nothing happened! LOL ~ They frequently prescribe 800 mg tablets of ibueprofen (which is what motrin is) you should be fine!

You should be OK, although you may get an upset stomach. I have fibromyalgia and regularly take the equivalent of 4 motrin in a 800 mg caplet.

I have a script for 600mg. I am not sure how high the prescriptions amounts go but 800mg doesn't seem very high.

I've done it on purpose when I have seriously bad migraines. 4 Advil Liquid Gels plus an Imitrex and bed after a tall glass of water. I've also done it when I throw my back out and can't move and don't have anything else on hand. I used to have an Rx for 800 mg but it's actually cheaper to just keep an OTC bottle on hand.

No worries.

800mg of ibuprofen is a pretty standard dose.

As an athlete I take between 600mg & 800mg all the time.

The military doesn't even have a lower dose. You go into medical, you get either 600 or 800 mg pills. Also nicknamed "groundpounder candy".

Taken regularly (every 6 hours) over a long period of time that dose means you need to get your liver checked every 6mo, and be careful about your stomach lining. But 800mg is totally safe/ normal.

as others have said you should be fine. The biggest issue you might run into is stomach upset, if you take that many very often it can tear up your stomach pretty bad.

I used to take 1600 mgs (that's 8 over the counter) motrin 3 times a day so the equivalent of 24 of the over the counter ones every day. Did some work on my stomach but most strong anti-inflamatories have the same side effect.

No problem! You would have to take an obscene amount to harm yourself. My husband routinely takes 3 or 4.

I've taken 5 at a time before. If it's the over the counter kind you should be fine. Worse thing that happens is constipation. Eat some cherries before you go to bed tonight :)
