First, if you have never checked out the band Mumford and sons, do. They are a british or scotish folk band and is just amazing. My boys love them...side note, sorry.

My thought and question is Where do you do your mind talk? Or praying? I dont care what religion, what god youre praying to, if at all. If it is to personal dont feel you have to share, you can just read others answers. I was just realizing that I do mine while I am driving. Thats where I came up with possibly posting this as a topic question. I am christian, so i do alot of talking to god or my kids and i say a prayer before we leave for school. There was one time we were out driving in the snow and we were stuck on a hill and we all were say a prayer out loud just to make it up the hill. we made it up that one, the next one we were defeated and realized god was probably telling us we needed to go home.

I again want to state that you dont have to share. I am encouraging anyone from any religion to share. Even if you have none. You must do your head talking somewhere. You dont have to share your head talk just if you do it in a funnny, fun or odd space/time is what I am going for.

Just looking for some enlightening answers:)

So What Happened?

pleasekepp your ideas open and coming. I wanted to add.. I dont only talk to god, i also have lost both sets of gparents for me on both sides. and a little over a year ago i lost the only ubcle I was ever close to. We had watched him go through so much pain. He had mesophleoma....cancer caused by asspestice??spelling on either. we watch hell unraval as his last few months went on. he slipped into a morphine induced coma while my aunt was out and she came home and thought he had passed. now that he is left us physically i get to talk to him everyday. Which was more then before. I get to do the talking and i know i have my dream team up in heaven watching my sisters and my life unfold. and they are waiting with open arms to catch us if one of us should meet them in heaven too. Anyways keep them coming. I love the stories and I think they are good for others as well!!

The bathroom in the morning. At anytime through out the day.

Denise I hate to see you write that although I know you have your reasons.
I just want to say look back and make sure that is the case because our answer most times are not his answer, it is not our outcome but the outcome and no I can not answer why bad things happen to good people but I do know that faith is believing and trusting in the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen and even when I dont get my answer...I Believe!!

Hugs and smiles to ya mama!

Anywhere. Car. Shower. Bed. Dinner Table...anywhere a prayer seems necessary.

Sometimes God doesn't always give the answer I want or even expect and sometimes after a really bad day, the prayer is just "help me". If I knew all the answers, I wouldn't need to ask.

I do a lot of my private praying in the shower.
We pray as a family before we eat and we say our prayers at night together when I am tucking my boys in to bed. My oldest will randomly aske me to join him in prayer. Just the other morning he asked, while waiting for his bus, if we could pray for his teacher who had been out sick. He has a huge heart!!
Denise ~ it makes me so very sad to see what you have written. But I get it. I have been there, but found my way back to Him. Keep praying ~ God doesn't always give us what we want, but he does give us what we need.

I am not religious by any means but do believe in a Supreme being. I believe that God or whatever you want to call him understands the limitations of man and has made possible the variant ways for us to form a relationship with him. May it be through religion or our relationship with our fellowmen. ( I always say that there are different ways to get to Detroit , you can take the lodge, I-75, I-94 or the side streets).

On a more personal level, I always feel this relationship with God. On occasion, he warms me with his smiles and blessings and there are times when I felt the wagging of his finger. Kind of funny but I don't feel him much in churches. I see him in my children's faces, feel him in breathtaking views and in my fellowship with other people.

I personally think that we all pray...in our own way. Not necessarily just to ask or to be thankful. Sometimes when we marvel at the things in life, that in itself is a prayer.

Hope thids doesn't sound too EMO but

Every single night, before I fall asleep, I marvel with astonishment at my own good fortune of having three happy healthy well adjusted kids, I thank Him for them, I'm curious what I might've done to deserve them (I'm just not that great), and still, I ask Him to let tomorrow be the same way.

And then the next morning, while I am staring with determined misery into my black coffee, I fully expect my life to be just as fantastic as it was yesterday.

And you know what? It ALWAYS is! Works everytime!

The car is one of my times to talk to God :)

Also, just whenever - I often misplace things - keys, glasses, matching socks, so I always say "Thank You" when I find the needed object.

Before I fall asleep at night, when I am snugly in my bed, I talk to God - about my day, my son, my wishes, my family.

Of course, in church - I tend to get lost in my private talks during the invitational...LOL - I think it is the soothing music and the combined energy of fellowship that makes it an easier prayer time for me. My son often pokes me to "bring me back".

I am trying to be more conscientious about praying - to make time to better focus on God and to listen better to Him. Always growing in faith.

Thank for the question and for the sharing,
God Bless

We say prayers as a family at dinner, bedtime, if we see a car accident or ambulance/firetruck, and at church. My intimate/reflective prayer time is usually when I am alone, like in bed (before my hubby comes in or after he is asleep), in the shower, on the treadmill, in the car (alone), or outside on the patio when it's nice after the kids are in bed. I love to sing religious music and I consider that praying as well. We do that together and sometimes I do it alone.

I am with you. I seem to be able to get the best and most thoughtful prayers in to the Big Guy when I am in the car. My son goes to preschool about 30 minutes from our house, so during the times when he isn't with me, the quiet allows me to compose my thoughts. Obviously, we pray at meals and at bed time, but my best prayers come in the car.

P.S. To Denise S., God is answering your prayers, but He probably isn't answering them the way YOU want them answered. Don't give up... :)

Definately in the shower. My L. ones are loud and silly, and thats the only quiet time I get all day! I just relax for a minute or two, sit on the L. seat thats built in , and talk to God for a bit. Its calming and rejuvinating and then Im ready for the rest of the day/night!

Anytime there is a big, beautiful, picturesque full moon. I love being at the beach sans kids, responsibilities, worries, stress and staring up at the big open sky and letting my mind free itself under the moon!! Nothing makes me feel better than the few times I've been able to do that. It's surreal and very zen (add some shooting stars and my fiance to the mix, and it's pure HEAVEN).

When ever. I find myself doing alot of it in the car.. when Im on the computer or taking a bath. Alot of times I fall asleep doing it. Then wake up feeling a bit guilty if I feel asleep while talking to Him.

Some of the stuff going threw my head others would probably think I was crazy and its best its kept inside my head! lol

We always say a prayer before dinner and bedtime. We have a set saying then I let the kids add thier personal touch after.

LOL, Momford and Sons! I was just heard one of their latest songs this morning. I really like them too, LOVE the banjo!

Okay, on to your question. We have two dogs. Usually I walk to school with my daughter and on the way back while walking the dog. Often I'm distracted though and my thoughts race back to everyday what needs to be done sort of thing.

Whenever I can...I listen to Klove on the radio and a song or a piece of scripture that is mentioned on the radio prompts/reminds me how God loves me and how I should trust him. I pray over my meals, with my kids/husband and we pray at bedtime after stories...Throughout the day I keep a list of friends and family who need prayer too and remind myself to do that.

I pray whenever/where ever I feel I need to. My hubby travels a lot for work and airplanes make me very nervous...He always calls me right before he boards his plane...I always pray then! Doing the laundry...don't know why...things just come to me then! Sitting on the deck watching my daughter play.

I love to pray in the shower. Cleansing of the body and soul, and just about my only quiet time! Our dishwasher broke over a year ago and I find myself praying while doing dishes. As much as I want my dishwasher repaired I sometimes tell God I'm glad it's not. I get a lot of things prayed about and worked out during that time.

I don't "talk" to God as much as I would like. I get so busy and my mind is going in a thousand directions.

But since my dad passed (4 years ago) I find that everytime I get in the car alone (not often) I end up in tears and very emotional. Thats where I do all my thinking/praying/dealing with my grief. I used to think I was crazy and silly. But then I talked to a friend who also had lost her dad and she said she would do the same thing. Now when I am in the car alone, I find that I feel very close to God and free to "feel" whatever I want. When I cry in the car cause I miss my dad, I now feel good that I am able to have time to work through all my pain. When a good song comes on that reminds me of Dad I thank God for the good times.

We pray before meals with the kids and I only listen to KLOVE. it really helps me stay calm and not stress in the car and at work.

I find that I often pray, meditate, etc. while I'm in the shower. It's the only time of day that I'm (mostly) alone and away from any electronic "noise". There's something about the sound of the water that makes me feel more calm. And having a few moments to tend to myself makes me thankful!

I have a routine and I talk to God any time of day. I also receive answers. I pray for people who ask me. I am in that way a prayer doctor.
I had a near death experience at 5 1/2 and have never believed what other people told me about God. For one thing there is no hell.
Prayers are not perfunctory nor read, nor memorized but come from my heart in the moment.
