Baby is EBF and I didn't have a period since he was born. He doesn't give me any stretches at night. I am not on any form of birth control

What can I do next?

Are you on the mini pill or anything? I was even though breastfeeding - because once they sleep longer than a certain amount of hours, you can get pregnant, and you can spot/ovulate, so it can all be signs that you're fertile. I had some spotting and was told for me, it was 'normal', but it was different after all my babies. I would go in and check with your doctor. It could mean your period is coming back

ETA: Is it continuous spotting? Some women's first periods are just that - spotty (or like a very light period). It's different for everyone. Best to make an appointment and describe it to your doctor. Start tracking it.

welcome to mamapedia, Mom2one

Are you on any type of birth control?
are you trying to prevent another pregnancy?
Are you having unprotected sex?

You really need to see your OB/GYN and let him/her know what is going on and what might be causing the spotting.

Congratulations on your baby boy!

I have too many questions to ask because your post doesn't give all the information I think I need to answer it.

While you are exclusively breast feeding your 8 month old! WOW!! You go. We were doing food at 6 months and still breast feeding. but breast feeding only at 8months? WOW!! Any way, breast feeding is not birth control. You need to go to your OB/GYN and tell them what is going on.

If you have had unprotected sex, you might be pregnant and it's implantation bleeding due to your breast feeding (which typically contracts the uterus).

Go to your Doctor.

Not getting a period doesn't mean you aren't fertile. If you're not on any type of contraception, you can't rule out pregnancy. You won't get a normal period until you ovulate - and that can happen anytime.

Spotting is annoying. Is it constant, or sporadic? Either can be normal, although at 8 months I'd be more concerned about constant), but it's worth a call. This could be postpartum bleeding, the start of periods, or pregnancy. I'd do a fast pregnancy test and then call the doctor for at least a phone consult.

By the way, for some reason, you are stuck in that Mamapedia glitch that allows you to post an answer to your own question, instead of requiring you to edit your question. It happens sometimes. Not your fault, but it will affect the quality of responses you get if updates appear elsewhere than in your original question (either as an edit or as a post in the "So What Happened" box). I happened to see it, but not everyone will. See if you can go back and edit the original question.

You might try going to the Couple to Couple League's website at ccli.org or livethelove.org. Scroll to the bottom of the home page and find contact information there. Since they teach a modern, effective method of natural family planning, including using NFP during the return of fertility after childbirth, they have staff members who are very knowledgeable about your situation.
