I HATE LAUNDRY!!... How Many Loads to You Do Every Day?

Doing laundry is the bane of my existence. I'm OCD about not having dirty laundry laying around, so I do it constantly. I never have a break. My fiance called me the 'laundry nazi', and says that if he takes off a dirty shirt, it's washed, dried, and folded in his drawer before it can even hit the floor, LOL!! My laundry room is outside, then downstairs in my 'creepy basement'... UGH. With 3 kids, myself, and my fiance, I'd say I do at least 2 loads of laundry on daily average, but if it piles up (like it did this week; awful busy work week), I've got like 7 loads down there to do!! AHHHHH!! My fiance only has 2 pairs of work pants and 3 work shirts, and my daughter needs clean soccer stuff every other day, so this is a constant. Ew @ laundry!!

So on average, how many loads of laundry do YOU do every day, and for how many people?

What can I do next?

Ick! I am with you on hating the laundry! I don't mind doing it and folding it, its the putting away and hanging that I despise, grr!

I do anywhere from 2-4 loads a day...and try REALLY hard NOT to do any on the weekend... but usually that is when I do the bedding..but for some reason that really doesn't count in my book b/c there is no folding and putting away, its just putting right back on...how lame am I??!!

~I have a family of 6 all the time, sometimes 7, sometimes 9 (depending on if the nephews are here) right now it's 8, my 2 nephews are here for a week while my sister and BIL are in Vegas, losers ;)

There are 4 of us - and I leave it build and do it once a week - because you don't actually have to watch a washer or dryer, I just stick it in, switch it over and leave it do it's stuff. So even though I have about 6 loads and it takes almost all day, I don't really have to do much! plus I don't have to think about it the rest of the week.

Mine and my girls- when we are about out of clean ones
Hubby- when ever he collects his stuff instead of throwing it on the floor by the bed
(Im trying to teach him, but he just wont learn:)

I guess I do about 4-5 loads on the weekend and 1-2 during the week.
I work full time too.

I tell them...

YOU PEOPLE HAVE GOT TO STOP WEARING CLOTHES!

It's gotten lighter since one kid is away at college (home next week, yay! laundry and all) so we're down to four. Now it's like 1 or two a day, I'm like you and can't stand a full hamper.

I used to do laundry 7 loads twice a week. Now that my kids are bigger, and they have a problem getting their dirty clothes into the laundry room, I only do laundry when they want to know where their clean underwear is : )

I do one load a day, on a regular day. Or, I let it pile up and do 5 or 6 loads on 1 day. My husband also has only 2 pairs of work pants, but he wears each twice on the weekdays (friday is jeans day) and considering he has an office job and doesnt get dirty or sweaty, it's no big deal to wear them more than once without washing.

I just don't get how some families can have SO much laundry to do. We are a family of 5... husband, me, a 16 year old boy, 14 year old girl and 9 year old boy.... plus a home daycare of 4-7 kids daily (playpen bedding, washcloths, bibs and towels). I do 4-6 loads a week, that is it! I do full loads, no reason not to wear clean looking clothes at least twice, change bed sheets every 2 weeks, use towels twice before washing (we each have our own towel to shower with). I am okay with my amount of laundry, but I seriously don't understand how some, it seems many families from the replies on here, have 7-10 loads a week.

For three of us, I can easily do 1 or 2 loads every day. It NEVER ends.
Although I would rather keep up with it than spend a whole day doing it!

every DAY????
seriously?
you ARE the laundry nazi!
life is too short. i do laundry once a week. i taught my boys how to do their own (supervised at first) from a young age. it's an all-day thing to get all the 5 or 6 loads done and put away, but it's not like i'm doing it non-stop.
when the boys were babies i probably did a few mid-week loads, but not that often. i'd lose my mind doing it every day!

Ohh I wish we could post pictures.
I have a pulled muscle in my back and I couldn't really cart the laundry outside or switch it, so I have been un able to do it for a week. My SO gets home so late he has only been doing what he needs for work.
I literally had a volcano sized pile that I sorted and started on yesterday. So far from last night to tonight I have done 6 loads...mind you we were gone all day. I even stayed up watching a movie and folding last night. My back feels better and it's killing me seeing it piled up!
On average when it's all caught up I still do 1-2 loads a day. At least 1 normal load, and my SO's uniforms need to soak and be pre-treated for stains (he's a mechanic) and washed ASAP before they get grubby. We have 3 people in our fam..2 adults and one 2 year old. =)

R.,

Split the laundry job up between you, your man, and if any of your children are 12 yrs or more, teach him/her how to do laundry. You can cut your hatred of laundry by 1/2 or 2/3rds.

If you have seven loads waiting for you, I wouldn't think of you as a "laundry nazi"....I would think of you as a "laundry avoider".

Blessings.....

When I had a family of 9 I only did 2-3 loads of laundry a day. The washer and dryer were in the house.

For my family of 4 we only wash once every other week. It used to be every week but that got to be too much for the family schedule. We have to schlep it to the laundry mat. The boys and occassionally the hubby does laundry at that time. I'm off the hook. I only have to be certain it all makes it out of the house meaning check the bathroom for the towels, washcloths and mats and remind the boys to do their sheets and pillows and blankets and not to forget the dog's linens.

I do at least one load of laundry a day, sometimes two. I do not use my dryer unless I must, and my clothes line only holds one load of laundry at a time. Doing one load a day keeps it from piling up on me, and means I don't have to use the dryer (which means a much lower electric bill).

I do an average of one extra large load a day (although, usually it's 3 or 4 loads one day, then none for a few days). I don't mind doing laundry, don't mind carrying those heavy baskets down to the laundry room, don't mind carrying those baskets back upstairs to fold. Don't mind folding the laundry (kinda like it actually). MY nemesis is getting the clean, folded laundry from the baskets BACK into the drawers and closets. Don't know why this always trips me up, but it does. Clean, folded laundry sits comfortably in baskets, on the bench at the foot of my bed, on (but not IN) the kids' dressers waiting, waiting to be lovingly put away.

I do at least 2 loads of laundry a day for 4 people during the week only. I refuse to do it on the weekends. I stopped fighting it (laundry) and have now accepted it as one of my daily chores like making dinner and doing dishes.

family of 6 and I have LOTS of laundry, but I have cloth diapers and a child with severe eczema who has to have his clothes laundered seperately so I usually have a full load of something every other day. If I didn't have to wash seperately, I'd probably do 1 everyday. And I LOVE laundry!
