I Got My 3 Year Old off of the Pacifier and Now She Sucks Her Wrist Constantly

Does anyone have tips for getting my daughter to stop sucking her wrist. We were so happy when we got her off of her "binkie" two months ago but she found another way to pacify herself by sucking the thumb side of her wrist. She does it all the time and while awake and asleep, even giving herself severe hickies. We have tried things like hot sauce, hot pepper and oral gel. We have also tried bracelets, cuffs, ribbons tied around her wrist and long tight sleeves to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Just ignore it, at least it isn't fingers with the germ factor a worry.
Keep her hands occupied when you see her doing it. She cannot obviously eat this way, or play with toys sucking on her wrists so keep her hands busy as often as you can.
I wouldn't worry.
I never gave either of my kids a pacifier, however they chewed on their sleeves on and off, I just ignored it, took it out of their mouths when I noticed and never said much. They both outgrew it.
The pacifier is one bad habit and really isn't easy to break so consider yourself blessed it is over with and the next step will be easier. :)

My guess is that she wasn't really ready to give up the binki. You may want to give it back so that you at least have some control about what she is sucking on. Later on you can slowly wean her from it so she overcome her urge to suck.

Give her back the pacifier....
I sucked my thumb until I was five and woke up one day and told my parents I was a big girl now and was done.
Kids find a way and a time to break themselves of it on their own. Usually heading to school and seeing your peers helps that along.

Since her issue is not crying insanely for the pacifier, but instead has just found a new way to sooth herself, she obviously just needs that comfort.
Why deny her that right now?? She is only 3...

Good luck and just remember that she isn't a big girl yet :)
