Hormones are different for everyone, but I agree with the other post...have your thyroid checked! I have thyroid problems and this is certainly one symptom. Plus, your thyroid changes when you are prego, so it may be a temp issue for you.
I am now 11 weeks and all studys show and all i hear from prego people is that they are/should be very warm all the time. Well i freeze, i have to wear a big jacket with long sleeves under it and two pairs of pants just to keep satified, is that something to worry about oh and by the way i live in california where is it sunny most of the time...
thanks i have my next dr's apt the 27th of feb. so i will talk to the dr's about it and hopefully they can help...then i will post what the dr says

To be on the safe side, get tested for anemia and for hypothyroidism, in which they both cause the body to feel cooler than normal (type in both on a search engine for more information on signs and symptoms). Both are simple blood tests. Of course, it could be just the pregnancy with all the extra hormones circulating throughout your body. But, it is better to know so as to not to be worried. And before you take any additional iron supplements, check with your doctor first. Iron can be toxic in high doses.
Hi J.,
I think you need more iron in your diet. Ask you OB about this. He/She will probably give you a prescription for iron supplements. I took those when I was prego to.

I know what you mean! I too am always cold. I am 32 wks pregnant and I kept waiting for my heater to kick in. When I was pregnant with my son I was hot all the time so I figured it would be the same with this pregnancy. All pregnancies are so different. As long as anemia is ruled out Im sure it's just one of the million different pregnancy symptoms that you can experiance. One little bit of advice though...don't go by everything you hear as far as things that should or shouldn't happen in pregnancy or it will make you worry too much. They are all different!
Anemia and hypothyroid are the first culprits that come to mind.. but also - do you smoke cigarrettes? Do you have a history of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)? Do you use an inhaler for athsma? Have your OBGYN check your heart rate as bradycardia can cause your extremities to be cold.. Also - be sure your OB is checking your urine for signs of gestational diabetes. A thiamine deficiency can cause a neuropathy that may cause you to feel cold in your extremities as well..
Keep us posted - you've got me stumped!
lots of Iron will help you have more blood flow which means yes you should be a little warmer so make sure to eat things with more Iron or even a suppulment and a colorful dinner will do you good ask the doc he may want to run a few blood test
thanks
