Hi,

Wondering if anyone has undergone this procedure and if they may have any words of advice. My appointment with Radiology is tomorrow afternoon, so this request is a bit untimely. I'm really nervous and have been considering cancelling- it seems so intrusive. If anyone has gone through this and would like to share thier experience, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance...R.

Hi R.,
I had one before I got pregnant with my first child. I remember being uncomfortable and having some mild cramping but no worse than a bad period. I also got pregnant within a WEEK of the test! Although the test showed everything there was fine, the dr. said it probably just cleared the way for a successful pregancy.
Good luck!

I had this done 4 years ago as part of infertility testing. It did not hurt, and I don't remember any real problems with it. If you are trying to get pregnant, I heard that your chances go up in the few months following one of these procedures because it clears things out so well. Good luck!

I had this done a couple of years ago as well. I don't recall it being painful and one of my tubes was blocked. Procedure was helpful in diagnosing my problem with getting pregnant. A couple of months later I had the surgery to unblock the tube and remove polyps, etc. Within two weeks of the surgery I was pregnant with my first child! The surgery to remove the polyps and endometriosis also helped with the pain I always experienced during my periods which was a bonus! Good luck and don't worry. It will be over before you know it.

I also had an HSG done last yr. I was told to take 600mg of advil before just to help with any cramping. It really wasn't bad just alot of pressure during the test and some cramping after.
Good luck,
K.
