Hypoallergenic Toothpaste

Dear mums,
I was wondering if you could advice me on natural children toothpaste. My daughter gets allergies from many types of foods.
Unfortunately she is still unable to spit the toothpaste while brushing, so some very small amount is swallowed and causes allergy.
(I use less than a pea- sized amount of cause ). Recently we switched from Colgate brand to Tom's Maine but I do not see much difference. What toothpaste do you use for your kids?

Thanks a lot,
Dana.

you can use a baking soda paste that you make at home, flavored with a teeny drop of peppermint extract.

I would like to offer an alternative to traditional toothpaste. Teeth Soap...yes soap. I have used it myself and the experiance is...refreshing! My teeth have never felt so clean and its very easy to rinse off. Just a very small amount is used on a brush and because its soap its natural...I dont know if there are any commercial manufacturers of teeth soap but there are a few individuals that make this in their homes, so therefore its a 100% pure product with no chance for allergies.
Google search "teeth soap" and find you someone who makes it! I use it for my 2 year old too. I dont have to worry about Flouride, or sodium laureth sulfate or any of the other chemicals that you can find in toothpaste.

Hi Dana,

I'm not sure if the natural toothpaste we use is hypoallergenic or not, but we all use it (including my 3.5 yr-old son) and we've had no problems - we used to use Toms of Maine too, but we switched because we found a brand that seems to be even "more" natural.

It's called Auromere Herbal Toothpaste. It's an ayurvedic formula that includes neem & peelu. We purchase it in Whole Foods & I'm sure it can be found in other natural & health food stores.

They have a website - www.auromere.com - check it out...hope this helps!

I'd suggest "Homeodent". It's a homeopathic toothpaste that does not have any allergens. Baking soda and water work well. Visit your local health food store and read labels on the toothpaste. There are some made for children that should work well. WAY better than the grocery or drug store brands. Avoid flouride as well.

We use Melaleuca’s training toothpaste that my kids love. It's apple flavored which sounds weird for toothpaste, but it smells great and they love it. I have had a hard time finding kid’s toothpaste that is fluoride free and often the fluoride free adult toothpaste is too minty for my kids.

Melaleuca also produces over 400 non toxic products that are safe for your home, health and the environment. Check out www.melaleuca.com

even adults only need a pea sized amount. you alo dont have to use a toothpaste with floride. id go back to using floride free paste until she knows how to spit it out.
