I totally believe that Hypnobirthing works. But I also want to reassure you that even if you do experience some pain, it is not something you did wrong. I get frustrated with the marketing of systems when it comes to childbirth. Sometimes you receive the message that if you "do it right" and doesn't that kinda implies that if you have a difficult birth, you are at fault? Rather, I think we should appreciate that pain in childbirth is normal, and that we should put all emphasis on allowing the body to cope effectively with the pain. The hypnobirthing can be a beautiful way to do that and I agree it all comes from within. (Mind over Labor)
Keep away from negative messages and for goodness sakes do not repeat the stories you hear, even if you are telling it to a friend the outrageous thing someone told you, the repetition of the negative message makes an impact. For example...the Sonographer tells a woman that the baby's calculated estimated weight is 7.3 lbs at 37 weeks. She goes home and tells her spouse and 5 close friends. They react and she receives the imput in several different voices, now coming from trusted sources..."Wow that is a big baby!" "Are they going to induce?" "Do you think you will need a cesarean?" "My aunt had to have vacuum extraction and she ended up with..." and that freaks her out so then she goes to another source maybe online or a book and this poor brain of hers cannot get a break from the fearful thought of a too big baby, no matter how hard the woman is trying to be a trooper! Hypnobirthing will help you to train your mind to be open to the positive messages (called Affirmations, how to bring about a deep state of relaxation where your brain waves can make the most of the positive messages, and how to dispell negative suggestions...such as providing evidence based research on things like the inaccuracy of sonography in the third trimester!! :o)
Hope this helps! You are strong, safe, beautiful and healthy!
Sincerely,
Marianne
