Ok to start, this is an embarrassing issue that I have and need help in finding out what other options there are besides surgery.
I have this embarrassing sweating problem, my hands and feet sweat without me having to do anything that would cause me to get hot. I have gone online to get more info on it and it seems like I would have to have surgery to get this fixed. It really is a hindrance to me in every aspect. I dread shaking hands, holding hand or even handing stuff to people. When I’m at church I pray that they don’t ask us to hold hand as they pray. My children even gross out on it :-( My two girls are fine and have no problem with this however my 5yr old son has this same problem and I cry for him because I know how this is going to affect him as he gets older and notices that its not normal. I would love for both of us to have this corrected if at all possible. I have insurance but being a single mom with 3 kids and no other $ coming in but mine, it’s hard to have this surgery if needed. Please help if you know any other info on this.

Thanks

Botox. I've been getting Boxtox injections in my underarms for some time now and am probably going to get them in my feet next--although I do hear it's painful.

my husband was a nasty pit sweater to an embarrassing degree. His doc prescribed hypercare and it worked like a charm. Now he only uses it once every couple of months.

I'm glad someone else mentioned Dr. Oz. I thought I remembered him talking about it. I also recall that someone had really sweaty/stinky feet and I think he told them to soak their feet in tea. Maybe the tea soakings help do something with the sweat glands?

See a dermatologist about botox injections in the relevant nerves. I know it works for arm pits, and insurance might cover it.

Try Certain-Dri it is over the counter and not expensive. It is for excessive sweating.

Do Certain-Dri over the counter after a shower at night (beware, it can cause you to get really itchy armpits so DO NOT shave before you apply it and apply hydrocortisone if it burns) and then use Lady Mitchum Smart Solid during the day. My Father In Law is a dermatologist and introduced me to these two products (you can also get a prescription deodorant that doesn't work any better than the Certain-Dri) and they have nipped it in the bud for me and you only have to apply the Certain-Dri every few days! There is also an oral medication that you can take, but it makes you terribly thirsty and a little constipated. I asked my FIL about the surgery and apparently it can have bad side effects (cracking and dry skin) and the Botox treatment for hyperhidrosis is very painful to inject and very unlikely to be covered by your insurance (I tried, appealed, and tried again with no luck!) an otherwise TERRIBLY expensive.

Hi M. I don't know all the details but I saw on a Dr. show once that getting botox injections in your areas that sweat helps the problem you could check into that.

My dad has this problem. There is supposedly an antidepressant that can cause the side effects of making this problem go away, for some. There is also a medicine given for neuropathy that can help it. You just need to see the right doctor, that knows alot about this. I would try a Neuropathist.

I have the same problem with my underarms, tried everything, all the clinical strength deos, nothing worked. i found a product online, called sweat block, one application lasts a week, and no sweating, for the first time in my life. you can google it and read their website, i think it works for hands and feet too, i purchased mine on ebay, came out a little cheaper. It is worth every penny. Good luck!

Dr. Oz spoke on this on an Oprah show. You can probably look up the show on Oprah.com to see exactly what he said. I recall that he said Botox injections will help. Hope that helps. It was actually one of her staff members that asked the question.

Hi M.,

I used to have hyperhidrosis very severely under my arms. I am using a prescription product called Drysol that is AMAZING! I have a newfound freedom that I haven't known since puberty! It is a roll on/dobber kind of thing, so I am not sure which body parts it is safe on, but I do know you have to get a prescription to buy it.

I apply it once a week and NO SWEAT at all. :)

Good Luck!

I read an article about a guy who built his own iontophoresis machine, he sella a book for $18.00 at
http://www.curemysweatypalms.com/

Botox injections will stop or substantially reduce sweating of the palms for about 6 months. After that, repeat injections are needed. However, there is a problem with this treatment when used for hand sweating – some people notice weakness of their hand muscles for some weeks afterwards. For this reason specialists are reluctant to use this treatment on hands.

A sympathectomy operation is probably the most effective treatment for seriously sweaty hands, it is 95% successful. The result is immediate; you wake from the anaesthetic with dry, warm hands.

Good Luck!

I have the same problem. What I have done to help is soak my feet in tea. You have to soak at least once to twice a week, but it does help the sweating feet. I usualy have a napkin in my hands or my pocket to help with the sweating hands. I haven't tried soaking my hands yet in tea, have thought about it, though. Hope this helps. I have not had any surgery done, my podiatrist suggested I soak my feet in tea. Simply brew a couple of bags of tea and poor it in a bin, let cool and place your feet in it for about 30 minutes to an hour. I also wear socks, I avoid wearing hose whenever possible. Good luck and God Bless.

Bless your heart....my husband has this exact same thing. It is generally not too bad in the winter unless we are somewhere that it is kinda warm but it really embarrassed him when we were dating and his ex wife didn't like it...so major insecurity. It doesn't bother me...I think he probably has the cleanest hands and feet of anyone i know because of this. Anywho....when i first started dating my husband, he took a prescribed med for this that helped out a lot according to him. he thought about doing the surgery before we met, but would require they paralyze part of the nerve or something like that...he loves to work out and enjoys working with his hands and what not...and to me...it is just not that big of a deal...so he takes the pill if he wants and we don't worry about it if he doesn't. I do understand your insecurity...I watch my husband's nervousness when meeting new people or at church if he puts his hands on his pants it leaves hand prints.....God Bless you and I hope you find something that works for you.

I understand where you are coming from. My husband had the same thing and opted for the surgery. He meets with clients everyday and shaking hands was not an option. So he did the surgery about 3 or 4 years ago. It was out patient surgery and it took him a couple of days to fully recover. He still talks about what a good decision it was to do the surgery. I would totally recommend you doing it if it really bothers you that much.

Hi M., I work with great Nutritional Food Supplement Company. I had great result with migrane headache and severe lower back pain after child birth that went on for 6 years and my daughter with eczema. I have seen so many issues get resolved by feeding the body with balanced nutritional supplement that meets the gap between what we are not getting from the food we eat.

Before you go through surgery, you should give it a try. You have 30 days money back guarantee.

I am a mom of 2, married for 18 years and work from home helping others with their health and finance.

God Bless you!

M., I can honestly say I feel your pain and embarrassment. I have the very same condition and experience the very same worries, esspecially at church and for my kids. I have tried many things creams, gels and even pills. A few years ago I even had botox injections 50 in each hand! That worked for about 3 months the doctor said it typically lasts for 6 months. I have been seeing a doctor named dr mark ray at trinity dermatology in carrollton. I am not saying you should rush to go see him because he is a cure all but having had this for so many years and being made to think I am crazy by other doctors he is compassionate and understanding to the condition and very knowledgable as well. We have cause to worry because I feel it is totally heriditary. My mother has it but her sweats in other body parts. I have a lot of sympathy for her! I personally am ready for the surgery. I have exhausted all the other resources that dr ray offers because he does not do the surgery. I have tried all kinds of things that I read about online as well. I can give you names of some stuff if you want me to share with you. I am also here if you just wanna talk and vent. Just contact me and we can go from there. There are others out there like you and me and I commend you on posting because it is hard to share and I often hide behind it. You are headed in the right direction asking for help.

Hyperhidrosis is usually a symptom of an overactive sympathetic nervous system. I had it for several years but did relaxation techniques and it's gone. It wasn't overnight - it took about 6 months to a year. The emotional freedom technique was one I used. It is free - just google it under Gary Craig - the founder (he has a 76 page document explaining how it works). I also saw a therapist and did some biofeedback training, and used a method called the Sedona Method. It consists of listening to CDs (and you can do it in your car). I also keep it up by practicing yoga and meditation regularly.

Dr Mercola - on the www.mercola.com website has a lot of alternative information to drugs and surgery. You can search his website for more than 50,000 articles. You can also get his newsletter free to your e-mail twice weekly.

Good Luck and I hope you get well,
J.

If you want someone local to help you with the EFT stuff that was referenced earlier, contact Vanessa Whitmire (____@____.com). She's an amazing healer who can help you with the emotional issues connected to this issue. I've also heard that Botox works for this, but acupuncture might also help some. It seems to have worked for me for everything else! I go to Dr. Steve Homoky at Coit & Spring Creek ###-###-####). Good luck!

Hi M.,
I something about this on a talk show not long ago and they said to soak you feet and hands in tea, one to three times a day and it nutralizes whatever it is. Just a regular tea bag or two in water luke warm water. I feel sure that a health food store has some information on this. It's better than surgery and worth a try.
As far as your children, pray they don't have it and everyday thank God that they don't. You have the authority as their Mother to pray and recieve. Don't speak negatively or say that you are afraid. That shows weakness in you faith in what God has promised. Not at all saying that you are not a Faithful Christian just reminding you of his promise. Bless you all and know that
you will find an answer without drastict measures.I never have sent a message like this but I am just following my heart. Hope this helps.

Hi M.,

My goodness - you have gone long enough with this. If it is within your means, I would suggest the surgery. I tell ya what, my neice, 17 yrs. old had it and she has had excellent results. EXCELLENT - no sweating on feet and hands at all. Her parents did have a hard time though getting her insurance to agree to pay for it. It took alot of work and documentation to finally have them agree - so be prepared just in case.

I would be happy give you the name of the Dr. my family used(in DFW area). Let me know if so...

I feel for you and hope that in your research you are
able to come to a solution for you and your son at some point.
