Do you have Diastasis??
It is a separation of the abdominal wall.... from pregnancy.
I have that.
Look it up online... because that will give you more information than I can.
all the best,
Susan
Hello all! Just wondering if anyone out there has had any procedure done, like a tummy tuck or lipo??
I have had 3 babies in 4 years and my stomach is HUGE!! My last baby was almost 10 pounds and now I just have tummy fat hanging off of me. I am on a very specific, weight loss program and have lost around 24 pounds already and plan to continue it until I reach my goal, which is about 50 more pounds. And I realize that you shouldn't have anything done until you are absolutely sure you are done having children.
But my big stomach has been a sore spot with me since I was young, as they tend to run in my family(grandmother, mom). I was never overweight until I started having children, but I always had a belly and I'm just tired of it. I just wanted to hear the pros and cons from anyone who has had a procedure like this done. I appreciate your responses. Thank you!
I thank all of you so much for your imput and empathy. I actually do feel better about waiting now until I lose all of my weight. I didn't realize that the belly fat was the last to go. I just kept seeing weight fall off in all of these other places, but not as much in my tummy and was geting frustrated. I did try the exercise to see if I do have the diastisissue, but I couldn't really tell. It does feel like I have gaps here and there, but I wasn't for sure. Sooooo...I guess I will work hard on the 50 pounds, let you all know what happened and see if that improves my stomach. If it doesn't, I guess I will get back on here and go from there! Thanks so much!

I was going to mention what Susan already said... Your abdominal muscles could have separated and no amount of stomach crunched or diet will "fix" that. You should research it, see if you think it applies to how your stomach looks, etc.
My sister worked in a plastic surgeons office for years. (she has not had any work done, yet!) She has always said the only procedure she would not have done is a tummy tuck. It is major surgery. You are cut from hip bone to hip bone. There is a long recovery time and could be major complications. You will need a lot of help, especially with three children, during your recovery. And, yes, the results will be much better and long lasting if you wait until you have lost all the weight you want to lose.
That said, the results can be fantastic. If I were not such a chicken and poor, I would love to have it done. You just have to be super careful when choosing a doctor. Investigate the heck out of them. Call state physician boards, ask for client referrals and when you think you know everything about them, investigate some more. As I first stated, this would be major surgery. Folks have died from having this surgery. If anyone tells you it is a piece of cake, easy, painless, be very concerned about them and their doctor.
Best of luck! Losing weight is super hard. Don't be hard on yourself, ever! I hope whatever you choose you are happy with the results. Also, just noticed you are near B'ham. If you want a reccomendation of a great surgeon, contact me. (you'll have to get it done before 2014 cause he is probably going to retire if O'care stays the way it is...)
I have pretty much the same problem but haven't tried to correct it so far. It does take a while after the last baby to recover. it was 9 or 10 months before I felt fully recovered from the pregnancy. I'd say if your last baby is over a year and you are getting close to you goal weight consult with a doctor on your options.
Boy, I understand your issue! I have the same problem. I am trying to lose the baby weight and then when I have enough money, I would like to get a "mommy makeover"--breast augmentation/reduction, tummy tuck, liposuction etc. It will be interesting to see other's responses.

Be aware, that belly fat goes LAST. That means, you have to lose all excess weight, and THEN your belly will finally go. Spot training is no use, you have to work you whole body. If you have 50 more pounds to lose, a lot of it is in the belly, and if you lose all the weight, you will go back to pre pregnancy shape. I had 3 kids in four years too, I JUST finished losing all the weight (had a huge belly and worte in here for advice), it finally went away, but I notice when a few pounds comes back, it's in the belly first. You should wait for a procedure until you know you've lost all you can lose dieting and exercising, like when you have your pre-pregnancy shape, then you will see the best results. Otherwise you may need another one later.
I know I would very much like to. I only had one child... but he was 10lbs, the placenta over 20lbs (and twice the size of him, the nurse holding it up, it was over 3 feet in diameter), and I doubled my weight (weird medical thing happened).
8 YEARS down the road and I can still fit 4 fingers under my belly flap, even though I'm in great shape. That skin is just toast. The only thing I'm waiting on is the cash to do so.
I have had 3 babies in 4 years too! And a huge belly! And I too have lost 24 lbs and want 50 more off. I have been debating doing the mommy makeover- tummy tuck and breast lift at some point. After the 3rd, I was thoroughly disgusted. Although I never looked great after any of them, this time it is especially horrifying and soooo much harder to get back into shape. I am interested to hear what everyone has to say!
