Hpv Positive

Hi Moms,

Three weeks ago i took a pap test and also found out that i got a yeast infection, with the Terconazol the infection was gone, but pap's test result is positive( HPV POSITIVE) As my OB GYN suggested, i took a colposcopy (biopsy). Today the test shows that i am at stage #3 (#1=mild, #2=mid, #3=severe,#4=cancer)which i feel very sad and worried. My OB suggests that i should take a Conization procedure. This procedure alse known as a cone biopsy, removes the abnormal areas.
I like to take time to digest this news and like to ask for your advice if you have experienced this situation before.
I have asked OB of the yeast infection effects the test result, the answer is no.
As i believe a cell that has not been starved of oxygen and has pH balance cannot become infected with cancer. So if i take conization procedure the abnormal cells can come back if i let my body imbalance. So i am thinking to change my diets and keep my body alkaline.
That way it will treat the root instead of treating the symtoms.Sometimes the cell changes- will heal on their own.
Do you think i take too much risk?

My friend went through this for years with the abnormal cells. She had the colposcopy and went to having pap smears every three or six months. FInally, she reached stage 3, I believe and was advised to have a hysterectomy. She is grateful and glad to be able to be free of the worry of not being around to see her kids grow up.

Better safe than sorry.

Hi,
First of all let me say that you have three children and a husband who need you here. I think you should not take the chance to let it become cancer. Go ahead with the procedure and still take care of your self so that abnormal cells don't come back. Don't wait to see "what-if?" because "what-if" it becomes cancer? My mom had this procedure done and she did just fine. You'll be okay.

Hi T., HPV is a virus that you will always carry. If you leave the stage 3 cells, you run a greater risk of developing cancer. At this point you only have to have a procedure that removes the cells, no chemo, no hysto, no really invasive treatment. The cone will remove the damaged cells and you will have a much greater chance of preventing future flare-ups with diet. After a while you may develop what is similar to an immunity to the damaging effects, but your body is already in a battle. Remove the cells AND change your diet. You will be happy you did both.

Hi,
You are lucky this was caught in stage 3, You can have it removed and do follow up appointmets to make sure it does not come back and get on with your life and live to raise your kids. Don't ignore it and let it change into cancer. the cone biopsy should be an out patient procedure and is really not a big deal. Please get it taken care of
Good luck

I am also HPV Possitive and my answer to your question is to look at your children and ask yourself do you risk never seeing your children grow up by not doing anything or do you do the procedure and watch your children grow up to be beautiful human beings. My choice was to do the procedure so I can watch my son become a handsome man. I know this is scary and confusing and your the only one who can make the choice/decision. You might make the decision to get treated and then change your diet so you don't have a chance of anything coming back.
It's up to you and your family.

I had stage 3 about ten years ago. I had a colposcopy and the leep. I had the procedures because I had gone from stage 2 to stage 3 less than three weeks. I have never had a yeast infection or anything else before or since then. The result was I had to have a pap smear every 3 months for a year and then every 6 months for another year after that. I have been normal every since. It did not affect my ability to carry a baby during pregnancy. I would do the same thing all over again. I wouldn't wait and try a change in diet because these things can move like wildfire. If you were stage 1, then I'd recommend a change in diet first. However, you are at stage 3. You have a family. Please have the procedures and do your change in diet as part the recovery. Yes, the procedures are painful, but they're only painful for a day maybe 3 and definitely not as painful as giving birth. God bless.

Hi T.
I have been thru this twice. It was a total shock and I wasn;t sure what to do. I did have the cone biopsy both times. It can be somewhat painful take a little motrin before which will help. I had the biopsy's two years apart. Each time they did a different area. I have been clear for three years now. Most important they are pushing for paps every two years but I insist on having my yearly just because of this. Be your own advocate when it comes to your health. I recommend going thru with the procedure even though it's scary. It's better than going thru the cancer. Best of luck to you

Thank goodness for modern medical proceedures.

Certainly it is your bogy and a second opinion from a dr at a cancer center would be good. I had an abnormal pap 29 years ago, cone biopsy and cryo-procedure, went on to have 2 kids and a healthy pap 29 years later. Treat the abnormal cells as soon as you can and have good nutrition and all will be OK!
Have your husband accompany you to the procedure as I remember not feeling so good afterwards and was glad I did not have to drive home.
Be sure your daughters get the HPV vaccine, all three in the series so they can be protected and not have to suffer this trauma.

Yes, if your plan is to _not_ have the procedure and go forward only with diet/health changes, you are taking way too much risk. Yes, Western Medicine has its flaws. Yes, there is not enough emphasis placed on whole mind/body wellness and way too much emphasis placed on drugs. But, it has also saved millions of lives, and in particular, PAP smears for cervical cancer prevention are a huge success story. Fortunately, you are not facing having to decide whether to take chemotherapy, which can be very hard on the whole body -- just the procedure to remove the problematic cells. If you are not certain of the medical advice you are currently receiving, get a second opinion from another OB/GYN (get recommendations from friends). Assuming your second opinion comes back the same, have the procedure and also make your planned health and dietary changes. Best of luck to you!

I had this situation about 15 years ago but I didn't have children then. Cone biopsy was an outpatient surgery, was home the same day, had to take it easy for a few days. Like after child birth, no sex for about a month, had to wait about a year to try to get pregnant and life was normal again. Six month checkups for 2 years to make sure it was all gone and it was! Yes, I think you are taking a big risk in trying to treat this yourself. Why risk your life and family when this treatment is not a difficult, life altering course of action?

T.. Do the cone biopsy. You are at stage three. They need to see if they can get it all out or if it has advanced further than they can see. Changing your diet is good for your overall health, but it will not reverse your current condition. 15 years ago, I went through this step by step with my best friend. Yes, the procedure was painful, but they managed to get all of the affected cells out. She had to have a pap smear every three month for the first year and everyone since then has been normal. Do not take the risk of getting the help that is available. You said it yourself, you have a husband and children. It's worth it for them.
God bless.

T., have the procedures. They are very simple, and do not take a lot of time, nor are there any side effects. You will experience some mild discomfort, similar to bad cramps. It will go away in about a day. They are simply "freezing" the bad stuff off. Don't take the risk. I have had both procedures, and have been having negative paps for 5 years now.

If the results were a stage 1, I'd say try a dietary method and it might heal itself. With a stage 3 result, you should seriously think about treatment and then diet in addition. The cone biopsy won't be pleasant, but it's better than cervical and uterine cancer. You have small children and owe it to yourself to take all steps available to stay healthy.

I have had the freezing procedure and the LEEP which takes away the "bad" cells. The first did not work so that is why they did the second. Both procedures were easy and I am glad that I did them. I had them done over 5 years ago and I have had no abnormal paps since then and two babies. I will say that even when the abnormal cells are gone you will always carry HPV in your body. There is no cure.

Hi T.,

I had that same procedure done about 4 years ago to remove the abnormal cells, and my paps have been normal ever since. I think that having a healthy diet is great and can promote a healthy body, but I believe you need to remove the abnormal cells first, like your doctor recommended. Don't give them the opportunity to turn into cancer and threaten your life. The procedure isn't that bad- I did have cramping afterward, but the relief that the cells are gone far outweighs any uncomfortable feeling.

Do you mean too much risk by NOT doing the procedure? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!

Please do the cone biopsy. You CANNOT leave your condition untreated, or you could leave your children without a mother. I believe your medical thinking is flawed.

In any case, I had a stage 3 pap many many years ago, and had a cone biopsy done, and everything was and is now fine.

Hi T.,
In 2002, I found out the same news as you.
There was a sense of urgency, from my doctors, to have a LEEP procedure, right away, which was a little less invasive than the conization. After the LEEP was performed, they tested again and there were still some pre-cancerous cells leftover. The doctor sent me to an oncologist and she performed the conization. I get a pap smear every 6 months as there is a slight chance the pre-cancerous cells will return. The oncologist said something, before the conization procedure, that stuck with me though. She said everyone's bodies produce pre-cancerous cells, but not everyone's bodies can fight them off. With that said, we are happy with the decisions to have both procedures and have had normal pap smears since.

Dear T.,
I have been there.
I was really young, 20, and had no children so that was the part that upset me the most I think. I'd already had so many surgeries and everything that the procedure part didn't scare me. I was just so worried I would never be able to have a baby.
I had the cone biopsy done. The worst part was the cramping for a couple of days afterwards. They kept a very close eye one me. I had paps every 3 months for a couple of years then was able to go back to the once a year routine. All my tests were normal after that. And I did eventually get two babies.
Definitely have the procedure done. This isn't something you want to mess around with.

Have it done and then take it from there. Chances are they will get all of it and you can put it behind you.

I wish you the very best!

Please do the procedure and then treat the symptoms after those bad cells are gone! I also tested positive for HPV and had the procedure that froze the bad cells and since then (2 years ago) have had normal paps. This is not the place to take risks, since most cervical cancers are caused by HPV. Stay healthy for you and your family, but do not refuse relatively simple procedures like this one when it comes to potential life threatening situations. Take care and I wish you a long and happy life!

About 5 yrs. ago. I was going through the same thing. I did have to have a biopsy, but I don't recall having to have a conzination procedure. However, having been in the situation if that was the case, then I would have gone through with the conzination procedure. Because if it develops in to cancer the only treatment is a hysterectamy (as told to me by my OB) I was 23 at the time and did not want that.

I had to have a pap smear every 6 months and a little over a year, I came back normal and have had a normal pap smear since. I did a lot of research during that time and did find out that the body can naturally heal itself, but was not always the case. But as for me, I wouldn't take the extra chance in not having the conzinaion prcedure if the doctor was recommending it.

Take care and best wishes in your decision.

Hi T.,

I had an abnormal pap a couple of years ago, then did the colposcopy with biopsies, and then cryotherapy. After that, I had a series of paps (3 months apart) and they were all negative. Then I got pregnant and haven't had a pap since. My doctor told me that sometimes with labor and delivery, the baby will take off layers of cells, effectively taking out abnormal cells too. I'll have to do another pap after I deliver next month to see if the abnormal cells are back or not.

Keep in mind that HPV is a virus and our bodies are built to fight them off on our own. But if your abnormal cells have already advanced to stage 3, this is a sign that your body is not fighting it off on its own. Do you want to wait and let them turn to stage 4 or intervene now? If you are questioning your practitioner's method of action, seek a second opinion.

Hpv is another word used for venereal disease. There are many types of them & can be researched on the web & google. That is alot of testing by your doctor. I am surpised he didn't tell you that. I hope you don't have hpv, because some cannot be treated, & some do cause cancer. I cross my fingers that you don't have hpv, sometimes doctors don't give the right dianosis.

It is sweet water because there is no contaminents and it has trace minerals and calcium put back in the water like it used to be.

It also makes your body alkaline.

I know it really sucks to find out because I just went through the same thing. I did the cone procedure done and it wasn't bad. I was out for the surgery and I went home the same day. You'll feel normal soon after but u can't have sex for a month afterwards. I would highly recommend u do it because u don't know how quickly it can progress. last year I found out I had hpv and had no risk. Over the year I changed my diet and exercised more hoping to rid the virus. This year I thought it would be gone but instead I found out I was precancerous. It was a shock but we have to live for our kids. If u let this go by too long u don't know where it could end up. Trust me, going through with the surgery is much easier than having cancer and going thru chemo. I wish u all the best and if u still feel unsure maybe u should get a 2nd opinion.

Hi T.

I had both the cone treatment and leep procedure. I was also at stage 3. However, that was about 15 years ago. knowing what I know now about a more alkaline based diet and how cancer is less likely to thrive in that environment, I would have waited on both treatments, changed my diet for a month or two (reduced the stress)and then went back to the doctors...However, the doctor will do their job (As they see it) and encourage you to get the procedure, but before you do, I would continue to read up on the matter. Now, when I had the cone treatment it didn't take away all the dysplasia hence the reason for the leep. The leep was what took away the dysplasia , but it was also a scary procedure (more about that privately if you wish) anyway.. I would also get a second oppinion and perhaps a second pap smear as things can change.
Definitely do your homework before you do any treatment and I honestly believe diet plays a HUGE role.
I wish you the best..
