I'm reading a book, and this name came up. Its driving me crazy, because I can't figure out how its supposed to be pronounced. Charlsie... GAH! Soo, how would you say it? I keep leaning toward Karl-see...but that just sounds weird. So does Char-see... Help. I'm going crazy trying to finish this chapter! Lol.

Sorry... It's a girl's name. :)

For 'Charlsie' I'd say Charl-zee.

The 'sie' tends to slide towards a zee sound.

Yeah, I'm reading a book out loud now that has names that are difficult to pronounce.
It's a good story but I'd like to slap the author upside the back of his head for the names he used.

Like Charles with an added long E sound on the end. Like Charlise? It sounds like a girls name, or a preppy college 80s name, or a pet name for a butler or a pampered pet....the imagination goes wild!....Do tell what the book is and what the character is like!

How does the author want it to be pronounced? That's what I would try to find out.

Maybe if you research it, you could find out.

Charlsie is a Germanic name, and a nickname for Charlotte. Think of Charles or Charlemagne and Carl.

The German's add 'endings' to a shortened name....most common is "chen" here it is 'sie'

So I would pronounce it "Shar-l-see'
