Books are just guidelines. Every child is unique in his/her development. Definitely sounds like he's on the ball--and the move--and knows what he wants. Watch out mama :-)
So my little guy was already rolling over front to back and back to front at 3 months old. Now that hes 4 months, he has started creep crawling, scooting along with his belly on the floor. I layed hm down on a blanket in his room while I was doing the dishes, and when I went to check on him a few minutes later he had creeped all the way under his playgym, rolled over and was playing under it, just like someone had purposely put him there. I looked in my what to expect book, you know they have the 'should be, may be, and could possibly' catagories, the stuff hes doing isnt even listed for his age. If he sees a toy he wants, he also barrel rolls acrossthe room to get it. How unusual is this??
Im starting to think maybe my older daughter was just a late bloomer, she wasnt doing any of this until closer to 6 or 7 months. I guess thats why it seems so crazy to me.

Sounds like my son and he was walking on his own at 9 months FYI! Rolling at 3 months, getting things by 4 months, sitting up on his own by 6 months, pulling himself up by 7 1/2 months, walking around holding on by 8 months and "crazy walking" by 9 months! His doctor just said some kids are coordinated enough to do it early and have the muscle strength!
My son was active in the womb, and active from the moment he was born. He was fully crawling by 4 months, and could crawl FAST. He was just ready to go. My son has always been very early with any physical milestone, it's just him. Our Dr. said it's early, that's it. Nothing bad, nothing too abnormal. It's only unusual, in that most babies aren't doing this so early.
My advice, is to make sure your floor is CLEAN of anything small or dangerous. My son was getting into everything by 4-5 months, and we had to be really diligent about safety.
awww you asked a question thats going to give you a million my kid did that responsses, or don't compare, but as parents we all want to hear...THATS AWESOME he's a little smarty pants
and I agree with that...we all know it's possible for other kids to have done it so I won't tell you about my daughter and if she did I'll J. say
CONGRATS he's a smarty pants=) Be proud and don't google what other kids do, J. assume he;s ahead and be happy=)
Sounds like you had better put him in a pack and play when you leave the room!
It is amazing what babies can do that we don't expect. I left my 3 week old in the middle of the bed while I took a shower. It was a queen sized bed and I kept peeking my wet head out of the shower curtain to see him. He moved a foot toward the side of the bed! Scared me to death! I got out all wet and put him back in the middle and got my hair rinsed, only to find he had moved again. No more in the middle of the bed without me there!

Sounds pretty normal, not unusual, my babies were doing these things at this age, too, books are just guidelines. Make sure that everything in your home is childproofed, he will amaze you at what he will do, and keep you on your toes!!
My baby is 14 weeks old and does that.
I don't think it's unusual...just faster than the "norm." You want unusual...my youngest child rolled over in her bassinet at the hospital. Wasn't a fluke, either...took her home, and yes, she could roll over from birth. She also had complete neck control from birth. She crawled, sat, walked, jumped, etc...all very early. This is in contrast to my oldest child, who did all of that very late. There's a huge range of "normal." :) My youngest also climbed out of her crib around 8 months old!
That is pretty early - sounds like you have an active little guy! My advice would be to childproof early and keep your eyes on him (or keep him well contained) at all times. My boys were all pretty mellow when it came to getting around on their own but I have a friend whose son was able to get places on his own way earlier than she expected. He's also a climber and an escape artist and definitely keeps her on her toes.
I dont think it's unusual but it's a sign that he's got great curiosity and will want lots of stimulation, be it books, blocks, puzzles, etc..
Be prepared to continue to challenge him, he's letting you know he's gonna call your bluff :)
Actually, this was the norm years ago. Babies slept on their bellies and
learned to scoot and roll and crawl at early ages. So not unusual.
It is a little odd, because it is early, but that doesn't mean he isn't moving at his own pace. I would just make sure he doesn't get hurt and mention it to the pediatrician when you go in.
Sounds like my baby boy! When he was 4 months he was rolling/scooting EVERYWHERE! He loved the new freedom. He was crawling well at 6 months and was full blown walking by 9 months! Started climbing at 12 months too. Now at 15 months he's working on running while most kids his age are still working on walking. Sounds like you have a fast developer. I never believed that babies could walk at 9 months, but my baby certainly proved me wrong!
