You might want to consider Weight Watchers. I have a friend that breastfed, and went to Weight Watchers. They have a customized plan for breastfeeding mothers.
I need help on how to lose weight while breastfeeding. I seemed to have hit a brick wall. The thing is that I am ALWAYS hungry! After I eat a HUGE meal (about 30 minutes) my stomach starts growling and I don't know if it is because I am hungry or because I am a fatty and I am craving more. I have tried to drink a lot more water hoping that it will help but no such luck. As we speak I am eating and my stomach is growling, HELP!!! Any advice you have I will try.

I don't have any advice for you because I share your predicament!
My youngest is 11 months and I'm trying to wean her by age 1 so that I can start losing all the weight. Nursing really kicks my appetite into high gear! I'm hoping that when I stop I'll lose some of this insatiable desire to stuff myself.
have you tryed drining milk or an ensure when you get hungrey
You may want to try eating more "negative calorie" foods... Things that take your body more calories to digest than they contain. You can eat as much as you want of these foods, without weight gain, as long as you're eating them without butter, creamy dressings etc. Raw is definately best, but cooked won't effect it much... just stay away from too many condiments as they tend to contain a lot of empty calories.

I lost the most while breastfeeding. You are hungry because your body is taking a lot to give to the baby. Did you breast feed your other children? find some good snack food; fruit, yogurt and granola, etc. You should not gain alot especially if you are hungry and breastfeeding. Is your stomach just growling or are you hungry? Eat if you are hungry. You should eat 6 times a day. three meals 3 snacks.
Are you taking a multi-vitamin? I noticed that as soon as I started taking my prenatel vitamins again, my doctor suggested, I wasn't as hungry anymore. Your body my be missing something from your current diet. As every mother knows it is almost impossible to get in 3 squares a day!

I hardly lost any weight until I stopped breastfeeding. Like you, I was constantly hungry. Even though I was eating healthy foods-- the weight did not come off until I stopped and then I joined WW. I chose the core program -- which is easy to do even if you continue breast feeding. On the core program you can eat unlimited amounts of certain foods and limited amounts of others. Once you get it down, it is pretty easy. I lost 20 lbs in about 4 mos and felt great (some of it is back and I'm signing up again after New Years).
Good luck ( I can sympathsize)!
Eating high fiber foods and LOTS of protien rich foods can help. both of those stay with you longer. Also having planned snacks through out the day helps. I couldn't go more than 3hrs without eating while I was breastfeeding, so I would plan snacks and meals about 2.5hrs apart. An Idea of what I would eat in a day (sounds like a lot I know)
1/2cup of high fiber cereal with 2 egg whites (that way there is tons of protien but no fat)
Snack. 1/2 cup of fruit or veggie and 2 oz of grilled chicken
Lunch. 1/2 cup of carb/1 slice of bread 2 oz of protien and all the veggies I wanted
Snack. 1/2 cup frozen berries blended in with a protien shake.
Dinner. Pretty much the same as lunch
and if I wanted it a snack in the evening, usually Cheese and whole wheat crackers, or veggies and hummus (again with the protien and fiber)
Hope that helps, getting in lots of protien will also help build muscle which will burn fat faster. And be sure you're drinking at MINIMUM 100oz of water a day.
Hi
Eat more protein, chicken fish ground turkey, that will keep you full longer. Eat it with a salad (i know.. boring! but it works) and snack on fruits like apples, add peanut butter if you like for an extra protein burst just not too much.
This may sound strange but I have had my daughter and my best friend eat it and it wasnt just me, they were full feeling or at least not hungry... not even snacky hungry for hours. I bought a box of Paul Newman/Kirkland cereal from Costco. It was his cranberry macadamia. It's delicious and incredibly satisfying.
I thought it was just me because I have been actively losing weight since April and figured my stomach was smaller or I just didn't want anything.. all kinds of reasons entered my head. When both my 19 year old daughter and my 30 year old girlfriend (i'm 44) said the same thing, I started thinking maybe I wasn't crazy after all, LOL.
If your pregnancy weight is still stuck with your body, then consider trying mummy magic weight loss tea. It’s an organic herbal supplement that won’t breast milk production and you’ll easily lose your extra weight.
Being a nurse you should have acess to a nurse onthe OB floor that specializes in breasfeeding. I breastfeed 3 kids. Your caloric intake should be approx. 2000 a day. Try eating more filling foods. Try eating more bananas. They are known to leave your tummy feeling full. Also eat alot more fruits and veggies. They wont cause weight gain. Celery is a great food that will make you feel full and it is harder for your body to break it down. Continue with the water at least 60 oz a day. sometimes you might feel hungry but it is your body telling you that it needs more water. There are also these great trail mox bars made by Kashi TLC. They can be found in the cereal isle. Cut out the food that has zero nutrition such as sweets and chips. Don't drink Diet colas they are known to make you put on weight in the belly and thigh areas.( I say this as I drink one LOL) Make sure that you eat 6 small meals a day. I don't know what your weight is or height. But try going online and find out what your BMR is. That is your Basal Metobolic Rate. It will calculate how much your body burns without excersise and what you need to do to lose weight. As always since you are breastfeeding talk to your doctor before starting anything new
