If you are giving her solid food you should go ahead and give her juice. Her little tummy will need the help with digesting.
I'm in need of advice for constipation for a 7 month little one. I've been introducing solid foods but have noticed she's becoming more constipated. She has 2 full formula bottles/day. What is safe?? Do you start juice? Thanks for any advice!
If you are giving her solid food you should go ahead and give her juice. Her little tummy will need the help with digesting.
Fruits that start with P pears peaches prunes and plums.
More juice.cereal or oatmeal ,high in fiber. Gerber makes apple prune juice.
Cereals especially are really constipating. You can give her prunes or, if it's really bad, dilluted prune or apple juice. I would suggest prunes or other fruit first though. Blueberries can also loosen things up. Good luck!!
I went through this with both my kids when they began solids. It just takes some time for their systems to get used to digesting more than breastmilk or formual. It will pass in a few weeks, but if your are very concerned call your pedi.
Prunes will help immensely and talk to your ped about using oatmeal or another type of cereal if you are currently using rice. Rice cereal is VERY constipating. With my first son I had to mix his rice cereal with prunes every other day to keep him regular. I never used rice with my other two children knowing what it did to my first child, I used oatmeal. Prunes can be a little hard to find, but they are out there. Gerber makes them and another brand does too.
If it is really bad, you can buy glycerine suppositories for infants and children at Walgreens. Works every time. :)

We used prune juice diluted with water. We gave both our kids a bottle of that every morning to keep things moving once they started solid food.
Another thing, 2 bottles a day of formula doesn't sound like enough at 7 months. You may want to talk to your pediatrician or nurse about how many ounces she should be getting of breastmilk or formula.
Double check with your pedi on the juice thing at 7 months they may prefer you don't do the juice. Any of the "P" fruits should do the trick just like everyone else says prunes, peaches, pears. If you do the prunes, you may want to mix them with a little cereal or go with a half serving. They always did the trick with my son but if I did a whole container (the 2oz size) it worked a little too well ;-)
My son has a regular issue with constipation and the doctor told us to put 2 tbsp of apple, white grape, or pear juice in his bottles until the constipation stops when he was that age. He is now 16 months. Hope this helps.
Prunes!! This is what I did for three of my kiddos who went thru this same issue. Prune baby food, prune juice also you can try the baby lax stuff as well. Good luck!
Hi L.,
I had the same problem with my daughter and I would give her a 4 oz bottle with a drop or two of karyo syrup and that helps for them to go. But maybe give her a bottle of apple juice or prune juice daily these both help her have bowel movements. hope this helps!

My doctor told us to use prune juice in her formula. Of course my daughter would get so constipated we would have to give her a suppository every afternoon. She would scream in pain. Also more veggies and fruit. Pears are great. Good luck
Make sure your daughter has plenty of water, and the solid foods maybe could rice cereal, some vegetables , maybe spinach if she is constipated, and some fruit. Juice that sugar is not added , read label should be o.k.
My daughter went through that also. We gave her baby food prunes and plums. We would mix a little with her cereal or feed it as her fruit with any of her feeding (except last feeding)

When we started cereal the doctor told us to put pears or prunes with it because it can cause constipation. try that! :)
Apple juice should help. I actually use apple juice as the liquid when I mix my daughter's cereal and it has helped her. Try adding applesauce to the her diet also. The old adage of an apple a day keep's the dr away seems to be so true not only for adults, but also for youth. The kyro might be another option, but since she is on solids now, I would try the different fruits and veggies. As someone else said, bananas do seems to constipate people more but the apples should offset that. Also try to get her to take more liquids during the day if you don't already. May it be water or juice. Good luck! I know this is a hard one to deal with!!
Try putting apple juice in their bottle
The "P" fruits...peaches, pears, prunes will all do the trick. Applesauce also gets things moving.
Miralax. You can get it anywhere. my 15 month old son has taken it every day for a while due to anal fissures. fill to the bottom of the first swirl line. no stomach cramps, etc just softens the stool. let me know if you have questions.
my daughter has had constant constipation issues. you might try to give her pear juice or possibly karo syrup in her bottle. Although there is a chance botulism can grow in karo so if you do that use a new bottle of syrup. Make sure she is getting plenty of vegetables. If you are using rice cereal cut back and try something else. For some reason bannas, and carrots can cause constipation. Something i did was I bought a 1 cup food processor and then you can blend fresh fruit and veggies and freeze it for easy meals for later.
